  • Best fat tire electric bike for the money!
I really enjoy this bike. It's got good power for 750 watt and it moves me at 24.5mph level 5 pedal assist, barely any effort pedaling in 7th gear, and 21mph on just motor, all of this on level paved road. I weigh 215lbs and I'm 6 foot 4 inch. The bike is a big bike, fits me well. Very comfortable seat and front shock works great, good lock out feature too. I put ibera rack on back and clip on luggage. Highly recommend. Extra lights too. You will want a down tube fender, mud shovel nice one for price. The battery will get 20 to 50 miles. Probably 12 miles if I went straight motor. Perfect electric fat bike for the money, you'll be happy with it. I'm used to smooth hydraulic brakes, these mechanical ones work, but noisey rotor pad squeaks and kinda grind. Wish they made it with hydraulic disc brakes, be a better bike because it's so fast. Tires are great too, work great in all conditions. ... show more

  • One year in - Still like new - Still my favorite toy
The bike is very comfortable, once you figure out how to mount it. After a year, the battery still seems to hold most of the original capacity (no specs, but I can still ride 25+ miles). None of the parts have rusted. The chain has never derailed. The shifts are still quick and work perfectly well with the click shifter (no adjustments necessary after the free professional assembly and initial delivery adjustments). The brakes are still super strong and fade free (after one year I had to turn the adjustment and make the rear a little tighter - just once in a year); actually, the brakes are A+ as I like to skid to a stop for fun with those beefy tires! The best kickstand I've ever had as it is not in the way of the pedals, and it is solid (the bike has never fallen over). The seat is on a shock absorber and is padded to comfort but still small enough to bang out a workout. The shocks on the fork are solid, absorb curbs and bumps with ease, and don't feel weak like my last Trek bike did. The fork shocks work so well that they add to my confidence of stability when rolling fast. The pedals have excellent thick metal that grabs any shoe I wear (I've never slipped off, saving from injury). The handlebars have grips with more of an elliptical shape, with flat wings, that are the most comfortable handles I've ever had. Overall, this bike is A+ COMFORTABLE. That is once I figured out how to wrangle this beast with my 5'10" 200 lb frame in lane at a red light, without looking like I'm overwhelmed, hehe. Things that could be improved: The fenders are a very welcome addition, but very occasionally get off center and rub the edge of the fat tire enough to vibrate and make a noise (I have been able to pull over and simply center them with my hands to remedy, but still is an occasional annoyance). The controller screen is already scratched a bit, and harder to read in full sun. I have yet figured out an out of the way spot to mount a water bottle holder, so I just keep my water in a bag on the back rack I added to the bike. An included tail light would have been welcome, but I easily added a rechargeable one. ... show more

  • Great First eBike
I was not a biker before this, but was sold on the idea of ebikes, so this seemed like the best option to get my feet wet. Now I'm a year in, and have put over 500 miles on this bad boy, and I think that validates the bike for this price. That said, this is not a great bike. Most of the (non-battery and non-motor) parts have failed, its very heavy, and for whatever reasons, I seem to get monthly flat tires. However, I still recommend DJ as a great entry bike because their customer service was fast, pleasant and free, so they've replaced everything that has failed. The bike is simple enough that repairs are easy if you're half-way handy, although the heaviness makes taking wheels off cumbersome. The motor is fine, but between it being a heavy bike (plus my fat american ass (220lb) + panier bag), it can struggle up hills (which Atlanta is full of). Would probably recommend a mid-drive motor (and perhaps non-fat tires), just because it does somewhat complicate changing flat tires. The battery is acceptable, but won't accommodate longer rides. Charger seems high-quality, if somewhat slow (takes 8+ hours for empty to full charge). In sum, a great bike for under $1,500, however, if you are using this as a car substitute, its probably worth it to upgrade to something in the $3k range. But its absolutely a blast to ride and is a great option to get started in ebiking! ... show more

  • Just Buy It Now!
So I needed another "toy" and had been looking at eBikes, I also have both a mountain bike and a road bike. I ordered the bike last Saturday and it was delivered on the following Friday so not too bad. It took me about 40 min to assemble but I was distracted and could have finished sooner. The best part of the assembly was these guys included a pretty nice bike tool kit (akin to a Swiss Army knife) and I was blown away but I already have bike tool kit along with plenty of Craftman tools. Make sure you read the manuals pretty well because it will be very useful. I didn't know how turn on the headlight and backlight display but if you read the book it will tell you to press and hold the up arrow and the mode button on the display for 3 seconds and then it will come on. The headlight is nice and bright. The bike is a BLAST to ride and it hauls @$$! I found the seat to be comfortable and was able to adjust it for my height.. I'm 6'2" and weigh 208lb and this bike moves me with the quickness. I ordered a rack and a saddle bags which arrived yesterday but I have not added them to the bike which I'll do tmrw. I'm primarily gonna ride it to my local Gold's and the food market from time to time. Make sure you carry a fix it kit for a flat tire because the tires are not as thick as I would have liked and they seem like they can easily be punctured. I might change them out for at thicker set of tires but for now l'll just keep them properly inflated and watch for objects on the road that could pierce the tires. I think this ebike is one of the best in terms of cost and features and this is one of my best buys this year. ... show more
