  • Very small
Style: 1610 Pro w/ offline controller
This little machine is very small. Easy to put together. I got instructions for a 3018 cnc and not a 1016. You will outgrow this very fast or just give up learning.

  • Bad assembly instructions, but good quality for price
Style: 1610 Pro
The instructions are really bad, they show assembling the unit, but don't show that you have to install the T-slot nuts until the next page. Also, the t-slot nuts were a bit tight, but scraping a few times on either side with a file was enough to make them work. All the couplings are held purely by friction, which is somewhat concerning, but not a real problem considering the size and price of this thing. ... show more

  • Won't connect to PC
Style: 1610 Pro w/ offline controller
Finally got around to trying to use this thing after getting it assembled. It will not connect to the PC, there is no tech support, and not many instructions on troubleshooting. Waste of time and money.

  • PART ONE. Out of box, assembled and operated.
Style: 1610 Pro w/ offline controller
Been very curious about these little cnc routers/mills for some time. I have some higher end desktop machine tools (sherline DRO mill, Taig manual lathe, Grizzly micro lathe generic wood/pen lathe). I think I am at the point I want to add a cnc mill or cnc to my Shoreline. But I have been away from CNC stuff awhile. So this purchase was meant to be my. re-education. And if it works, might have some uses. But this is a very small and very light duty unit. Also as with so much import based stuff, you might get pure junk or you might get something with some value. So here is what I have experienced. Vendor shipped on time and no issues. Packaged will and parts were clean, no damage or scratches. Opened box at 7 PM Spent 30 minutes inspecting parts, counting hardware and looking at the pictures (no words) in the assembly part of the manual First two pages base and Y axis took about 45 minutes to assemble. I used a small square and worked hard to make sure everything was squared to the same point. I suspect any binding will/would be an issue. Allen wrenches supplied were ok. I had my little tool kit ready, but the cheapness of the hardware (plated, not stainless) felt like anything more than the supplied tools would round out the hex. I will likely put stainless hardware in at some point. The only fussy part was the retainers for the tee slots. Not well made and several were not threaded well. Ran a tap into all them and it helped. Had a couple extra in the kit, but I used a couple of 3-D printed inserts just to see (on the uprights that hold z axis) Next couple of pages, X and Z axis as well as spindle install took about 30 minutes. No issues. I should note that the accuracy of the parts and machined holes is pretty good. Very little effort or time to insure square. One moment of caution was in installing the spindle. It is clamped in place and held with on bolt closing the clamp. Took me a bit to pry it open enough to get the spindle in place.....mainly due to concern about breaking the mount (plastic...probably ABS). Once I spread the open side to about a 3/8" gap, no problem. Don't be too rough, but it flexed fine and no indication of stress lines. Last step was wiring. NOTE it will take some effort to keep the wire harnesses from looking messy. Gonna find a way to support them. Supplied with zip ties...but something better is in order. Wiring took all of 8 minutes. Plugged it in, powered up the off line controller and all the lights came on. Using the off line controller moved all three directions correctly. Spindle motor spooled up and adjusted speed. Going to set up a dial indicator in a bit and check accuracy. Hit one of the preloaded programs (no bit....just the control) and the machine started working away. So a couple hours of easy (and what I think is fun) work and the tiny machine came to life. Zero issues in parts (other than the insert and hardware quality issue). Zero issues in fit and finish. Zero issues in electrical/control. For a very cheap version of this it seems to be a pretty fair start. I have no illusions that it will be "hogging" material. I am also very curious how accurate it can rout. But, figuring that out and trying some of the little projects I have in mind should be entertaining. Next update will be accuracy and adjustment info based on what I do later to night or tomorrow. Will post photos. I also have a z axis touch off to try...so will show that as well There are lots of low power laser heads that fit..if accuracy is good my play with that as well. And if the accuracy is even close to reasonable specs, I have a couple of printed circuit boards I have created in KI Cad....and really am looking forward to seeing if I can add that capability to my projects. So for now, it has been fun. If you are curious about this type of stuff, you can sure spend a lot more $. ... show more

  • Great value but not for total newbie.
Style: 1610 Pro
Had a problem with the linear bearing which is resolved by myself, but seller is helpful and respond is prompt. Must have some basic mechanical intuition and be expected to pick up diagnostic skills, which is a requisite anyway no matter which machine you decide to purchase. No fundamental issue with the machine design, great value for money if you know how to work around it. ... show more

My 1610 came with a 2016 manual that does not give the right setup measurements. Still trying to find the proper manual online and in groups. Not very much help available for this one. A 2016 is more popular and it is what I will buy sometime in the future. This is a learning toy but there is no book to learn from that I can find. ... show more

Assembly was pretty easy and I liked the off line control mechanism to test function as well as the included micro sd card to download cutting instructions. Make no mistake, this is a hobbyist grade tool. Perfect for learning cnc on a budget. Good for cutting wood and plastic. It also works as on over head pin router for inlay work. ... show more
