I just received these lights and they look great out of the box. I tested them with a 12v drill battery and they are very bright and function properly with the 3 wire setup. When the running light wire is energized they light up at 50%. As soon as the brake light wire is energized, they kick on to 100% and very bright. So far so good, I plan on installing them on my boat trailer. I will update if there are any issues, but I dont foresee any. ... show more

When I put a cover on my bicycles on the rack, the tail lights were partially blocked. These were relatively easy to install under the bike rack. Wiring chart: Vehicle = V Lights = L White = W Etc. Light is a pretty well made unit. I would recommend buying this product. Shipping was quick and was well packaged free of any damages. Update 9/22/2018: I wanted to give an update of this product. It has been working great with no problems since last review. Additionally for anyone having difficulty wiring, particularly the wire labled "brake". You need to get a brake light source before the turn signal circuit. You can get this source directly off the brake light switch. The best choice usually, is to go for the center high mount brake light circuit. This light bar is technically called an "identification clearance marker ". It is required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) for vehicles that are above a certain GVWR. Also heavy duty trailers must have this identification marker. Its the center light that goes between the right and left marker lights. Also a DOT required items. This light is accepted and approved by the DOT for the three center mounted marker lights. There's a review from an engineer talking about installing diodes for turn signal use. This light is a parking light with the added "3rd brake light " feature. A blinking light dead center of a vehicle doesn't tell anyone wich direction you're intending to go. If its advertised as a turn signal then the seller needs to correct that statement. There is no provisions for it to be used as a turn signal, other than buying two of these and mounting them as combination stop/turn and running (parking) lights. Sometimes engineers, "over engineer". LOL.😆 I myself am an electronics technician that holds an engineering degree and I see that review from a repairmans view. Just something to possibly fail and diodes have a little bit of loss between the junction. Just use the lght for a clearance /parking marker light and if you want the added safety feature, connect the "brake" wire as I stated above. Easy to do. Also if your truck has a trailer brake controller plug under the dash , (most newer trucks) located on the right of the steering column. 4 pin plug. Light probe the pins and push brake pedal til you get the probe to light up. I think its a yellow wire. I know it shouldn't be red, black or the blue wires. ... show more

It is very well made and bright. I used it for a center brake light on a small trailer. I mounted it high on the rear 'tailgate' which was made out of wood. The issue I had was needing to get voltage to the light. You can't just connect it to a single brake light (on trailers) because they are also turn signals and parking lights. These were pretty straightforward to install. They are very bright so I feel safe that no one will miss them, especially braking and/or turning. The housings are watertight and look like they’ll take a beating, and have so far, since I live off of a very rough, bumpy gravel road.
