I bought this for my new PS5 Pro that doesn't come with a disc drive (PS5 Pro is a digital only console). The installation was super quick, pretty much plug and play if you follow the instructions. Everything worked immediately. In testing on my PS5 Pro, its compatible with PS5 & PS4 games that PS5 Pro supports, as well as Blu-ray DVDs. Do you need this disc drive? Up to you. Sony is going into a more digital download direction but I celebrate physical game discs and want to use my PS5 Pro as a Blu-ray player in tandem. I have a PS5 pro and it didn’t come with a disc drive and scalpers were buying these up so made them hard to get without overpaying. I finally saw this available on (of course) Amazon that said March 16th delivery date and decided better to wait than over pay! I believe I ordered it sometime in December and got it early January. My thinking it was a scalper deterrent…??? Anyway got to say super easy to install! Even easier than the SSD I had previously installed and that wasn’t that difficult either! ... show more

Noise level is a bit high even when you are not using it but there is a CD in there. So I just keep it empty when I'm not using it. Oh and it took 5 weeks to deliver it.
