This is very useful for spreading dry lawn and garden amendments over moderate size areas. It holds enough material to cover roughly 1000 sq ft of most materials. It has a nice range of throw which is adjustable and directable both in terms of distance and angle of spread. Battery consumption is modest. I had no trouble covering 7000 sq ft with plenty of power left in my 4 A Hr pack. Of course the battery pack doesn’t come with this device (as the listing informs us more than once) so be ready to supply your own Dewalt compatible battery. The one glaring fault with this device is that with all the electric controls and motor it is next to impossible to flush it of chemical residue after using without damaging the device. The first use ever was this week when finally there was a reason to try it out. It is time to apply pre emergent here so the spreader was loaded up and the job was fairly quickly and easily finished. And not a thought had been given to how this spreader was going to be cleaned afterwards and then the realization came that it cannot just be washed out with the garden hose as is usually done. So it was wiped out several times with a damp paper towel but now I know there are traces of the pre emergent that surely remains so I hate I used this type of chemical in this really nice spreader that unfortunately cannot be flushed with water. Worked exactly as I had planned. Professional landscaper and I needed to apply 250lb of preen to landscape beds. It worked perfectly and I did it all on a 2aH small dewalt battery and by the time I did all 250lbs, the battery had only dropped 1/3 bars. Highly recommend for seed, preen, etc.

I had issues with the spreader jamming up. the trigger chute slide would stick. Sometime not even letting unit shutoff. Sometime during this the spreader blades broke off leaving just a flat disc.
