Non-contact voltage works at about 1/2" from 120Vac, has features found on much more expensive units. Easy to replace batteries under the "kick stand" and you don't have to wrangle the protection skin to replace the batteries either. Even has a temperature probe. The Alligator clips are a little hard to use, but they do have a positive connection means which makes it difficult to install on the leads. Uses 3 AAA batteries (included). This is a hidden Gem. Hands down one of the best bang for buck items I've purchased on Amazon. As a certified ford master technician for 6 years, this thing does everything I need it to do and more. Ive tested accuracy of this meter vs high dollar snap on and fluke meters, all the reedings are identical and it performes every function the the $600-700 meters do for literal pennies on the dollar. Just your average every day joe and even skilled electrical technicians should consider purchasing this meter as just your every day beater and go to tool for electrical diag. Seems to work well. Instructions are in very fine print and difficult to interpret. Maybe for more complex tests than I needed. still haven't found where the replacement fuses go.

    • Nice little tester to have at this price point.
Great to have for simple tasks and just about every task. Not sure how it stands up next to a professional tester, but does the job for me and reliable.

    • So many features for the price and fairly rugged,
I looked at a bit a dozen choices. My use is very homeowner limited, but why not get a lot for a little? The non contact voltage detector, flashlight, stand, dual probes, large lighted display. My only gripe, minor league s the included alligator clips don't fit on the probes. Not even close, though you can force them (not a good idea). Truthfully I didn't even notice them in the pics. So I was surprised they were there. The inner holes in the c,ups are to small for the probes and better ones click onto the probes. Fixing this in future model would be nice, but didn't alter my 5 star rating and absolute recommendation. ... show more

at this price, i've purchased three of them. that way i've got one ar different locations without digging around for one. they all work fine, they are compact and easy to use, auto shut off is great... as said, for the price! (snd btw- i'm a tech and have amassed a collection of 5 "yellow" high end meters over the years that have failed and are no longer used. i could buy 50 of these meters and would still be ahead vs buying on *luk meter... ... show more

I didn't want/need an uber-complicated lab-quality meter -- just a simple-to-use meter for the basics -- and this seems to fit the order. Nothing that I do lately requires a meter with a NIST Calibration Certificate - and so far, it looks like simple Volt/Resistance/Continuity/Temp testing will be handled by this meter with ease -- and it looks like it'll survive being tossed around with the other "stuff" in my travel tool kit. If I come to doubt/question the meter, I'll compare it against an old tried-and-true device and update this evaluation with nits and/or picks. ... show more

I am very confused at those wonderful reviews. This may be the ultimate meter for the price but there is so much against it. First, how to install the batteries?? I see no screw visible to open the back and NO information in the booklet. Playing around I was able to open a a black cover that exposed the screw. Why????? After inserting the supplied batteries, I kept searching how and where those supplied fuses go??? No information and no space that I can find. The same with some other accessories. Now, I do believe that it may require a higher level intelligence than I have to decipher the various symbols to set the pointer to what you want to measure. NO INFORMATION.
