It does fade the dark spots. Works BETTER with the other line of products. You only need a pea size amount, best if used at bed time. For the first few weeks it gave me side effects , made my face red like a burn or an allergic reaction but as I continued to use it the redness subsides and disappear. You can use with a moisturizer from the same line because it can dry out your face a little but for me it works best because I have oily skin. I think it’s important to know I’ve never had stubborn acne as a kid, but I did have some occasional cystic acne as a teen which hasn’t left scarring, but has left some dark spots/discoloration in places. So I can’t review whether this works on stubborn acne scarring/discoloration. But I have fair skin and this really brightened up my skin and evened the blemished areas out. I used it for maybe 2 weeks, once a day at bedtime, before I saw some noticeable results. For the first time in awhile I wasn’t self conscious to leave the house without some kind of foundation on. I’ve always felt uncomfortable with bare skin, since *every* flaw shows up when you’re pale. I really recommend this if you want brightening & a more even skin tone. I use it about twice a week now at bedtime and I think the results are holding up well. You only need a very small amount of gel to cover an area; it spreads evenly with just a very small drop, so I think it will last the average person quite awhile. ... show more

I was very excited to try this since I have a lot of acne scarring from chronic cystic acne but unfortunately it did not work for me. The first thing I noticed was how badly this smelled. To me it smelled like stale urine. The smell dissipated quickly enough so I figured it would be worth it if it meant finally having clear skin. It burned a little when I first applied it but I though that would probably pass. Within less than 5 minutes by face was bright red, hot, and swollen and only in the areas where I had applied the serum. I immediately washed off the remaining serum which hopefully has saved my skin from any lasting damage. I would not recommend. ... show more
