I bought a computer with only one video port. It needed a second video card so this one was purchased. The physical installation was pretty straightforward. The instructions for getting the computer to recognize this device relied essentially on intuition and a bit of dumb luck. The user is directed to a website to download some file which is supposed to make this card work. The installation has no indication that it is working or not. I purchased this with the intent of using either the VGA or HDMI just for initial setup of a Server (Onboard VGA of Server was dead). Well assembling is very easy, installation of the main card is also easy, but the VGA Ribbon Break Out Cable will NOT work because it is about a half inch too short for either flipping it to the front or the back of the card for install. The card works fine but I had to use the VGA Ribbon Break Out Cable not installed to do the setup. No matter which way you bent the ribbon cable it was putting a strain on the cable. The VGA Ribbon Break Out Cable also started to show some wear on the cable as if it was going to cut if I kept forcing it. ... show more

    • Where are the fanless modern graphic cards?
Got this one to resurrect an old Ryzen system that used to have a heavy Radeon for gaming, but now I want to repurpose this system as a modest software development system. So far so good, this graphics card work fine, drivers in Linux are very mature, in Windows 10 they use very old legacy Catalyst drivers, but hey, they work. However... It is 2023 and this is a early 2010s graphics card, as a matter of fact, I had the same model back then for a Phenom II X6 build server that we had at work!! Why AMD/Nvidia don't create a very simple fanless and current card for these kind of systems? I guess now that the AM5 systems and most Intel CPUs do include integrated graphics isn't necessary, but it would have been a nice option for these kind of almost headless computers. ... show more

I bought this for a Dell Precision T7500 server workstation--an absolute behemoth of a tower. One criteria for this purchase was noise reduction. Internally, the Dell has all passive cooling for the CPU, North bridge and RAM (24 gigs) and I didn't want to run my TV at 20db while watching moves to compensate for droning fan noise. The role of the Dell monstrosity is to make a dumb TV a smart TV, while acting as a media gateway between my TV and the Network Storage unit housing my movies. This card is the perfect solution at an economic price, answering all of my needs and exceeding expectations, replacing the Nvidia NVS card that failed. For the record, the Dell is running Windows 10 pro X64 and the TV is a 46" Dynex with 1080p HDMI. Crisp image quality with a minor adjustment to screen scaling through the Catalyst Control Center--something I usually don't install. If you're looking for a robust card, it's important to note Diamond makes top-rated stuff in the Radeon line. This card, even at GDDR3 is no exception. ... show more

My old tower has PCI Express slot. Fan got noisy visibly failing. I don't do games so needed just a video card, that supported my 22" DVI attached monitor. Under $50 and heat sink rather than fan seemed a perfect match. Diamond has been in the business a long time. I ignored the bad reviews like no driver or hard to install etc. as non-techie operator error. Bought it; installed it and the silence was golden. But right off I noticed subtle issues like left click speed required to be slowed down. After a time it started blanking our for seconds. Then on Thursday I got my Turkey award. Powering up the BIOS gave 6-long beeps. Adapter failure. Only have 1 adapter, the video card. Tried cleaning and reseating by no go. Got out the old, noisy card and booted up fine. Past the 30-day return to Amazon. So must deal with a company 3,000 miles away for my 1-year warrantee for a product under $50. ... show more

    • Replacement video card for dual boot Windows XP / Windows 10 system
I run a dual boot Windows XP/Windows 10 machine here at home, and I bought this card to replace my ATI Radeon X1650 video card that I put into service about 10 years ago. The fan on it quit working years ago, but this year not even the supplemental fan kept it cool enough to keep it from throwing errors from overheating. So, I decided to look for a video card that was "not too old but not too new" that would have Windows XP drivers and drivers that would at least work under Windows 10. I settled on this card, and I have not been disappointed. Installation of the card under Windows 10 with the supplied CD-ROM was straight forward and reasonably quick, and the same was true when installing the drivers on my Windows XP installation. I have thus far been able to run my Windows XP games (since they don't run under Windows 10) without a hitch, and the card functions well under Windows 10. I am now able to access web sites that utilize WebGL. If you are looking for a card that helps bridge the gulf between WinXP & Win10 on the same system, I can say that this card did the trick for me. ... show more
