  • The price gets five stars, even with minor flaws.
Size: Twin/Twin Color: Black
Please be aware that I am giving this five stars because I have searched in stores and online without finding a bunk bed this inexpensive that has the weight capacity of this one. I have a teen and preteen, so a bed with a 100 lb. weight limit is out of the question. This bed has a 200 lb. top bunk weight limit, so that alone makes it five stars for the price. However, there are a few very minor issues, mostly with the paint job, that might irritate someone who expects perfection at even this rock bottom price. For me, they aren't enough to deduct points from the product. I did not expect a $1000 bed for $160, so I was fine with the tiny flaws. There are a couple of spots where the paint just didn't cover well, and they look almost rusty. It's not the full-on, metal weakening type, but just bare metal, untreated look. They are near the spots the bed joins, so once everything was together, you don't even see them. The slats apparently rubbed together during shipping, and the paint on them is scuffed; again, it's minor, and it looks as though it happened during shipping. The slats were the only thing not individually wrapped, so the rubbing isn't even visible. The bolts do extend from the bed; they aren't flush with the metal. However, they are rounded and coated, so I don't see this as a problem, either. They are intended to be that way. One thing that irritated me a little is that one of the slats is bent. That seemed odd, because it's the only one and they were together in the box, so it seems like it was that way before shipping. It's not enough to affect the sturdiness of the bed. I put that slat near the head of the bed, so little weight will be on it, just in case. Now for the good parts. This bed is very sturdy, very heavy, and it doesn't squeak or sway. While it is very tedious to assemble, it is simple and the instructions are great. Everything you need is included in the box. The instructions say you need two people to assemble it, and that it takes two hours. I HIGHLY recommend that you get help with this, if you can. I couldn't, and I assembled it alone in about an hour, but it was a pain. One warning: the instructions say not to tighten the bolts until the bed is completely assembled, and I cannot stress this too much. DO NOT TIGHTEN THOSE BOLTS UNTIL THE BED IS COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED. I hand-tightened them, and had to take some out a bit, because I had tightened them too much, just with my hands. Update: I bought this in September 2015. In May 2018, it's still strong and sturdy, though squeaky. It has been a great value for me. ... show more

  • Affordable buy.
Size: Twin/Futon Color: Silver
Looking for a cheap and solid bunk bed futon frame this is it. Top holds around 300 pounds and the bottom holds around 600. It is a pain to put together but it isn’t hard just a bit time consuming. Frame looks nice in black I would recommend this to anyone looking for affordability and quality.

  • Good value, looks decent.
Size: Twin/Full Color: Black
There is much to like about this unit. The package arrived in one large (and heavy) box. I used a handtruck to aid in bringing it into the house, then opened it and carried it to an upstairs bedroom in pieces. The instructions are fairly straightforward, with good pictures. All of the pieces are clearly labeled. I spent 1 hr, 45 minutes putting it together. A couple of times, I had to remove a part and turn it 180 degrees because I had not realized that I installed it backwards until I went to fasten something else. Once put together, the bed seems fairly sturdy, but when someone climbs the ladder, the whole structure shakes a little. The fasteners are allen-heads, and I had difficulty getting some of them to start threading. It takes patience. Once they are started, they thread right in. For certain stages of assembly, it may help to have a second person hold things in position while you get the fastener started. It is easy to strip out the allen-head of the bolts. It would have been better if they had gone with a torx-head. Installation of the slats is a longer-than-needed process due to their being a couple of hundred components (literally, not an exaggeration) in the assembly. In additional to sliding in the metal slats, of which there are plenty, you also have to snap in plastic connectors (3 per slat on the upper bunk, 4 per slat on the lower bunk). The good news is that if you ever disassemble the unit to move it to another location, complete disassembly is not required. You could probably disassemble it, move it to another room, and re-assemble it within a half-hour or so. Note that the top bunk has guard rails, but the manual says your mattress on that bunk should be maximum 6" thick. The physical appearance of the unit is fine. The packaging included foam and cardboard to prevent scratching during shipping. The bolt heads are black, so they do not really stand out amongst the black finish of the bars. On some of the more expensive bunk beds, the fasteners appear quite prominently, even at a distance. One negative that comes to mind is that the ladder's rungs are fairly thin, so a heavier child might find that to be painful. All in all, this seems to be a decent unit for the price. It was actually the cheapest twin-over-full bunk bed that we saw anywhere, and we shopped around. It doesn't look like the cheapest, though. The finish of the paint is more of a satin finish, which looks much nicer than I thought. I was expecting a cheap-looking glossy finish. One last thought: You can easily slide another 6" mattress underneath the lower bunk to use as an emergency sleeping arrangement for a guest, or for your kids' occasional sleepover. If you look for bunk beds with a trundle, they can be quite expensive, so you can satisfy the same occasional need just by sliding a mattress underneath this unit...like a poor man's trundle bed... ... show more

  • Impressive weight limit
Size: Twin/Futon Color: Black
The bed was relatively easy to put together, everything is labeled with letters, and the instructions were easy to understand. This bed had the highest weight limit out of all the bunk beds that I shopped around for, and very affordable. The bed does wiggle a bit when I climb up, but I also weigh 105lbs. I found the ladder rungs to hurt my feet so I did buy some ladder pads for bunk beds, and that took care of that problem. All in all, I recommend this bed due to the weight limit, looks, ease of putting it together, affordability and the futon adds more bedding for guests without taking up space after they leave. ... show more

  • Great Buy!
Size: Twin/Full Color: Pink
I purchased this Bunkbed for my Daughters 10 & 5; at the time of purchase they were 9 & 4. They’ve held up well for the Year we’ve had them. My Daughter’s; Step Daughters and Sons have all slept in these beds! We’ve had no problem with them bending; squeaking; rocking; breaking anything. It’s probably because they also know not to jump on the beds; or act wild and crazy on them. We’ve moved once and they’ve held up well in the move. My Husband and I put them together with no problem and it didn’t take long. We used a power tool. No missing hardware; no dents; no paint chips; it’s the perfect size for us and we’ll probably keep them for awhile. All in all great buy I have no complaints. Comfort sets were also purchased from Amazon; we have Twin over Full. ... show more
