One of the pieces was a bit cracked so I contacted customer service and they responded fast, piece was shipped and I got it within days. I bought it a year ago I wanted to make sure it was good quality before leaving my review, considering the mixed reviews, but for the price I gave it a chance and still in very good condition a year later. This is a heavy package, over 75#. The components come labeled with tags like you find at a local shopping mart and some will be hard to read, the label gun that was used for ours was worn and almost out of ink. But it's mostly common sense. One of the blister packs that had the hardware in it was sealed with the diagram backwards, but again, common sense. One of the legs was damaged, like it had been smashed into, and a few of the pieces had tread imprints from either a planer or sander. The stain was applied evenly and the varnish looks okay. There are some rough spots where it could have been sanded better and had the varnish applied better, but for $130, for a child, and made of hardwood, I'm happy with it! It was easy enough to assemble with two people, one of the cams was not threaded well so we had to hand tap it to keep the bolt from cross threading. The stairs are comfortable to use and the ladder can be moved to either side of the bed which is great for vacuuming and play time. I can take away the ladder when my son has friends over to keep them from being hurt. I get up on the bed with my son every night, I weigh 134# he weighs 40#. Personal risks: We spaced the mattress supports a bit differently to support a memory foam mattress, (serenity twin from Walmart) the 8" mattress is really only 6~" and it's not too tall to risk rolling out of bed. This bed is plenty sturdy. It will serve us well for the next 10 years with proper care. ... show more

The beds are an awesome addition to my kids room. I was a little nervous about buying beds on Amazon without being able to see them up close and personal in a store but I am very happy with this purchase. The beds are made from real wood not that pressed board garbage. They are very sturdy and the design leaves my kids plenty of extra room for their other furniture and toys. Once you lay out all of the pieces and get yourself organized they are fairly simple to assemble, however, a second person is needed for certain parts of the assembly. Another point to note is that during shipment one of the pieces for the headboard was damaged and it literally only took a few minutes to get in contact with support to have another part shipped to us. I assembled the bed with the broken part for now since it was not damaged in any way that would pose any safety risk, it just looks bad having a crack. Once the part arrives it will only take a few minutes to loosen a few screws and replace the broken part. All-in-all these beds are impressive and worth the price I paid at the time of purchase. Another side note, the beds are very large and extremely high unlike other bunk beds. Make sure to look at the height and make sure the room your putting them in has high enough ceilings to accommodate this bed in order to prevent a few bumps on the noggin. ... show more

I'm usually one to give a lot of a grace to product but this is not safe. It's not sturdy at all. It wiggles so much that I wouldn't even try and give it away at this point. Don't buy, invest in a higher quality product!!

The bed frame arrived somewhat damaged because of shipping. The box seemed fairly well packaged, but some pieces are a little flimsy. *After assembly, you can't see the splits very easily The bed went together easily. It can definitely be done alone, but a second set of hands would be useful for the top railing assembly. Bed is NOT sturdy. Any reviews claiming this bed is really solid is false. It is sturdy enough for a child to simply lie down and stay still (of course children don't just do that). I'll need to anchor the frame to the wall and suggest you plan to do the same if you purchase this loft bed. 3 stars because you get what you pay for and this wasn't a $600 loft frame. ... show more

The frame came packaged really well! All the pieces were clearly marked with stickers, the hardware was in a labled box, and everything matched the instruction manual perfectly. The diagrams and instructions were well written and easy to follow. You could probably put the frame together with the allen wrench provided, but we used our own because the bolts were very tight when screwed into the wood (which is one of the reasons the frame is so sturdy!). You will also need a Phillips head screwdriver, and a rubber mallet might be helpful for some of the dowels. We put it together with 2 adults in a little over an hour. I think 1 adult could assemble it if they were handy. Our biggest problem was keeping it from sliding around on the carpet when we were first pushing pieces together. The glossy finish on the white frame is very slick! We were pleasantly surprised how sturdy it feels, and how nice it looks! The whole thing is made from wood, not MDF or hollow core boards. The glossy white finish should be easy to wipe down for cleaning. We think our 7yo will be able to use it for many years. ... show more
