The DEWALT DWASHRIR Impact Ready Shears Attachment is able to cut up to 18GA material including but not limited to: Sheet metal, corrugated sheet metal, duct, asphalt shingles, steel mesh, vinyl siding, wire, plastics, cardboard and rubber. This tool features a 360 degree swivel head that allows for maneuverability when cutting. Connects via standard 1/4-inch hex shank. I needed to cut some metal corrugated roofing and I am definitely not a professional roofer. We recently had some roofing done and the contractor used one of thes, almost effortlessly. I bought one and it took some effort to get the roofing panels cut to the correct length. I was able to do an acceptable job but not as good as the pro would have done. Still, it was a much better than using a pair of scissor type shears: less effort and less time and strain. I would recommend these for light metal cutting. This little cutter does a great job. Might need to practice on some scrap because it's easy to get off track. You can slow and it keeps cutting. Glad it wasn't too expensive. The blades are quite, can't hear it cutting. powers through metal roofing.

If you keep your eyes on what you are doing, you can cut a nice line with this. You just have to pay attention to the line, and you will get better over time. One con is this will leave a nice side and a wavy cut side, so practice on a throwaway piece first to see what side it leaves the nice edge on, if that matters to your cut. ... show more

We bought this to build a shelter foe our horses and knew we had quote a bit of tin to cut. This worked fantastic, a few little hiccups at first getting the hang of it but it worked perfect. If you have an extra drill and battery you can leave this attached to, then for the price, this is a nice solution. It cuts well and is so much quicker than sheet metal sheers. It is decently well balanced for one-handed cutting, and the neck is long enough that your hand stays away from material being cut at a higher angle than when using sheers. The jaws are pretty small, so it does take some finesse and forward pressure to keep it cutting (and in a straight line). It might be quicker to use a 3" cutoff saw with a metal blade if you only need to cut in straight lines. But this tool is versatile and can cut irregular shapes, if you are skilled enough. I wish it had a quicker way of detaching and attaching, since it prevents the drill from being used for anything else with this attached, and the battery cannot even be removed, as it presses down on it (at least when mounted to the Milwaukee). But it's been worth it to dedicate an extra drill motor for smoother, quicker, and easier cutting than using manual sheers. ... show more

If you are cutting flashing, or flat tin this item works great. As for roof tin, not so good didn't matter which way I turned the head as you are cutting over the ridges the tin either gets hung up on the battery or at the cutter head, probably just as fast to use tin snips.
