    • Too simple and boring. Not a ton of replay
I was very excited to get this for my newly 5 year old. I wasn’t sure if it’d be too difficult but it’s actually very simple and you kind of do the same thing for every case. I love mystery games and want to introduce them to my kids but this was too simple and easy. Not sure why it’s rated for ages so high. I think any 7 or 8 year old might be bored after doing a few since you repeat the same few “games” for each case. ... show more

With a mom who loves true crime my kids were all about a detective game. They love this and it's the only game they want to play on our weekly family game nights. This is a very cute set. When you open it (it does look like a tiny briefcase), it has a little magnifying glass, dry erase marker (and eraser on cap), and little file folders inside. There is also a place to display your case card. Basically you aren’t solving one mystery, it’s like a lot of little crimes and by completing puzzles in each folder your child can narrow down the suspect. My 7 year old and I completed one of these, he thought it was fun but I was sort of disappointed. It would be easy, it seems to me, to have just a couple of details about the crime that tie it to the puzzles--it’s like you are randomly doing puzzles that have no connection to the crime which I found off-putting. Finally cracked into this that was bought as a Christmas gift for our kiddo. Very giftable, this would be a fun gift for any curious kids. We have been working on concentration and listening with our preschooler and this was a lot of fun practice for her to learn how to follow steps, pay attention and have fun. Very cute. Very durable, love the overall theming. The briefcase adds to the theatrics of the whole thing which is fun and has been used for pretend play on top of it haha.     • Wonderful game for the whole family.
We enjoyed this game so much! My kids, 8 and 9, really liked this game, and I enjoyed the time we spent as a family and seeing them having fun. The game is very simple but engaging. The pieces seem to be well made and well throughout. It also introduced them to beginner detective works and encouraged them to be patient, creative, and observant.
