We sought this style, because it's more modern/contemporary than others, yet still square and with a completely open bottom. In FL we have zillions of bugs year-round and having to open/clean twice a year to remove dead bugs and moths was a hassle. Cute little lamp. I got the black version and painted it blue to match the other hardware in my garden. The paint I used was Rust-Oleum 276270 Stop Rust Protective Enamel Spray Paint, Satin Sapphire . It pops nicely against the yellow stucco wall. I'll add another photo, when the paint is dry enough to hang the lamp. The transparent bits are glass, not plastic. They were easy to remove, because the corners are attached with screws. Don't be tempted to hang the lamp without the glass, though. I think it's needed for stability. The glass doesn't have finished edges, so be careful not to cut yourself, if you remove it. The back reflector is very thin metal. Update: I've added a photo of the painted lamp in situ. Note that I painted the white porcelain base of the low-energy lamp. If you are looking to upgrade your outside lighting without breaking the bank then these lights might do the trick. I paired them with the Dusk to Dawn Light Bulbs to have ease of use, without spending more on dusk to dawn sensors on the light fixtures. The lights are easy to install. Turn off breakers to start and after removing old lights install enclosed vertical bracket to wire mold. Once that is done you can adjust the horizontal bracket and secure to vertical one. Line up adjustable bolt (remembering to shorten bolt to accommodate top acorn nut). Match white wires with white, black with black and secure with enclosed wire connectors. Secure grounding wire under screw with designated “G”. Tuck all wiring in wire mold. Slide housing over both bolts and tighten acorn nut. Add clear caulk to housing and any areas that might let water penetrate. Screw in dusk to dawn bulbs. Turn breaker back on. Flick light on and it should go on and then immediately off. Once it’s night (dusk, of course) they will stay on until dawn (yes, morning). No more turning light off and on. Ta dah! ... show more

Without spending a fortune I bought these fixtures to upgrade the front of my brick ranch. I mean what do I have to lose a $12 each, right? The installation was, like I said, easy peasy. I did have to replace the #8-32 x 1” mounting screws with #8-32 x 3/4” mounting screws, but like all men with tools, I have bins of clearly labeled screws, nuts, and washers on my work bench, so switching them out was, like I said, easy peasy. I mounted the lights, installed a bulb, flipped the switch, and there was light! I hung a banner over the garage door afterwards, that proudly proclaimed “Mission Accomplished”. The front of the house has a nice face lift, for a lot less money than Joan Rivers paid for even her earliest face lifts, and in all honesty it was cheaper to replace the old fixtures than it would have been to remove them and paint them. Faster too, since I wasn’t sitting around waiting for the paint to dry. ... show more

Arrived well-packaged and in perfect order with all the necessary installation bits. Installation instructions were a bit on the major confusing side, obviously not written by an English-speaker, but the parts are so few it's easy to figure out. Took mere moments to install and is a delight to have, especially at the price paid. I've gotten similar at Walmart in recent times, for a much higher price and had to return for refund because of the quality. This little light will shine for quite some time. Great product for what I needed it for. I bought 2 of the black ones, one for near the front door and one for near the back. My father and I installed them pretty easily, we added clear caulking around both of ours to keep it waterproof. I used the special LED lightbulbs that come on when it gets dark enough as long as you keep the light switch on. These lights looks nice and I'm happy with my purchase. ... show more

The pictures in the instructions are hard to understand because they are not clear. That being said this was an amazin addition to the front of my house. Once I figured out what was what I was able to install this in no time! It ended up being so easy I can't complain about the 5 extra minutes I had to stare at the instructions. Love! Love!
