After an initial hiccup with no delivery, not the vendor’s fault, a new pair was sent and received within 48 hours. Skeptical as I was about this product, after strapping in and walking the small strip of grass area as a trial, I must say these aeration shoes are the bomb! Just like walking normal only with spikes on the boot bottoms. Had fun walking around the yard. Do make sure the ground is dry or you will get mud caked around the spikes. They will also pick up any leaves you step on. The little shovel/scraper tool works well to remove all of that stuff. After just hose them off and let dry. They’re easy Velcro on and off straps. These are a bit clumsy to use, takes practice since they are only one size. With careful adjustments and poles for balance, they are very useful and good exercise!

Once you get your feet strapped in properly the shoes are comfortable. If they are not strapped on properly or evenly tightened amongst the points you will feel fatigue in your foot/ankle and it will ache. I have used these several times and the spike are sturdy and long and penetrate the ground easily. Be careful walking around roots and that is a quick way to roll or hurt your ankle. The media could not be loaded. it is ok product. gives you a ton of workout. need to be careful not to step on your own toes. use it only when the soil is moist after a day of rain. dry soil bends the spikes regularly. I am 210 lbs - that could be a reason as well.

I used these to aerate dried up hard yellow patches of grass. After a few days the yellow patches were already visibly greener than before! Takes about 45 minutes to do about half an acre of lawn. Only downside is the hind strap doesn’t secure tightly around the slightly pointed heels of my Nike Zoom Pegasus shoes. Otherwise these are great lawn spike shoe attachments. A few notes: Do not use on wet grass/dirt. It will cause dirt clumps to stick to your spike boots and will make moving around harder than it needs to be. Shovel can be used to clean between spikes, but if you only use these on dry grass/dirt, you won’t really need to use the shovel. Also, if you are exhausted after using these, you are likely using them inefficiently. Take a step forward, lean into your step, and let your body weight push the spikes into the ground. Then pick your back foot up as perpendicular as you can to the ground and repeat. If your body weight is on your hind foot and you're trying to use your muscles to stomp your front leg into the ground, you’re unnecessarily making it harder on yourself. Lastly, start with the yellowest/hardest parts of your lawn first as those need the most attention, and then work your way around the rest of the lawn. Repeat walking about once a week to every other week until you are satisfied with your lawn’s appearance. ... show more

While my shoe size is 12, I got these to work strapping the back velcro loop across the front with the other loop and cinching very hard along with the front. I had over three inches of rain a week prior and two inches the day before using these, very important. I took what seemed like a thousand foot steps over two hours aerating a fifth of an acre - half dense zoysia grass prepping for a fall annual rye grass and the other half prepping for perennial rye grass after issues with soil compaction weeds and thatch build up that thwarted zoysia dominance. These shoes worked like a champ, especially considering if I had my dad's old aerator and a hitch on my lawn mower that I could do it, I was done before that would have started - and zero carbon foot print except for the banana and coffee I had that morning. Of note, you need to walk like Frankenstein, or like you have heavy boots of lead (credit to Ozzy Osbourne), in spiking the soil up and down while you walk, and don't go on slopes unless you have a fence to hold on to. BTW, weed be gone is an excellent weed control product for established zoysia lawns. I needed to use a metal rake aggressively on a horizontal motion to de-thatch old grass clippings and dead weeds prior to using this product and then I am going to seed the thinned areas where the weeds were. ... show more

The spikes are fun to stomp around the yard in and give you a decent workout. I really love how they give you a knife to clean the spikes, make sure you carry it with you. This TX clay dirt sticks pretty good to the spikes and sometimes would bring up large portions of earth with each step.
