  • Easy to assemble, decent for the price paid
We bought one of these to keep our most precious plants safe from the frost this winter. 1. The frame is made up of 1/4 inch thin metal pipes and plastic joints. Not high quality but expected for the price you pay. 2. We assembled half the tent indoors and completed assembly in the backyard and put on the tent cover after assembly. 3. Because the quality of the joints was poor it was hard to know how much force to apply to make the joints fit well, and I ended up over hammering the joint together even though I was using a rubber mallet. Fortunately, I was able to get the tent up even though one of the joints cracked while we were trying to put it together. 4. A single person can assemble the tent. Easier with two, took us about 30 mins. 5. The cover is fragile, we had to be careful putting it on, but it went off well. The restraining ties are useful and are provided with the tent kit, loops are on the tent. Hooks are low quality, like the wire shirt hangers from the laundry, but we still decided to use them. 6. We have been super careful using the zippers after reading previous reviews. Totally expect it to break off one of these days, but holding up so far. 7. The wire racks are a joke, they're that flimsy. Would have been better off without these and using a shelf instead but it is necessary for the stability of the tent the way it is designed. 8. I left the netted "windows" open for the first few days and a freeze took out some of my plants, but most other survived. I quickly closed the windows and all has been well since. I used some regular non led holiday lights initially to keep plants warm during freezes, then added a 65W incandescent lamp, and now the tent is tropical toasty and humid, some of the peppers are blooming and I'm expecting the late eggplants from this years summer to bear fruit in the next month or two. 9. We've had some strong winds but the tent has held up so far. Hoping it will make it through the winter without getting blown over. We've put rocks around the little bit of plastic sheeting that extends around the tent. This winter has been very mild for us in central Texas so far, but the tent is holding up well. We keep tripping on the restraining ties and I half ripped off a loop when I tripped over the line a couple of days ago, but still happy with the tent despite that. The tent is fairly small, but we have packed it with a lot of plants, with the heavier ones on the floor and the lighter ones on the wire racks. Would recommend it for the price and utility. It would be a miracle if this lasted beyond the winter, if that happens I will update the post. Update 11/5/22: The greenhouse performed remarkably well during the winter. I had packed it full of plants and added filament holiday lights to generate some heat. I watered the plants every now and then throughout the winter and noticed that the greenhouse was tropical toasty throughout the winter. However, the greenhouse did not make it past the winter. The plastic cover started to fray, the metal frame started to rust and parts of the plastic fasteners broke off. It was good for the one winter but I had to throw it away at the start of spring. ... show more

  • Nice small starter greenhouse - Update
While the instructions could be a bit clearer, having someone help who doesn't pay attention to which drawing one is on is not helpful. Easy to assemble but helper kept telling me the wrong parts. If the diagrams were clearer, it really would help. The parts are very nicely labeled on the diagram and there are letters on the fittings. The number in the bag indicates which tube is which and it would be better to have the tubes each labeled. The price is right, which makes this a perfect starter. Small but with enough room to work. The cover went on much easier than expected and fit perfectly. I only gave 4 stars for sturdiness and stability as we get wind and I am waiting to see. We did put brick/patio blocks around the bottom as the tie down stakes aren't all that good for our area. I will update after we have some 65 mile an hour winds. All in all, so far, I love this little greenhouse. The construction made sense and everything fit. A small malet, nylon or rubber can be use GENTLY to tap things tightly into place. A good product and, though I did not contact the seller, I would buy from this company again. OH, and extra sturdier wire ties are really needed for the shelves. I put those on each corner of the shelf and used the little green ones in the middle. I plan on adding more ties later. It's now January and I am still growing carrots, onions and fennel in the greenhouse. Temp today is 36 degrees F but it's 50 degrees F in the green house. I did have to put better velcro on one window but other than that it is doing well in a cold climate. I love this little greenhouse and am thinking of purchasing another. ... show more

  • An excellent greenhouse but even better with modifications.
I bought this greenhouse to create an environment for growing mushrooms, and I also grow quite a few veggies under lights. My purpose in this review is to describe the advantages of this greenhouse for both purposes and for uses both inside and outside. The initial setup of this greenhouse was pretty easy, but you need to make sure that all of the pieces are completely seated. If you don't, the greenhouse will not sit squared. My husband and I put this green house together in about 45 minutes and used a rubber mallet to make sure all of the posts were completely into the joint pieces. Once we got it together, it was quite stable. Although it does come with cables and stakes to stabilize it for outdoor use, we didn't need these for use in our basement. The features that I like about this greenhouse are: - It has windows on each side to allow airflow when open. These windows are useful whether the greenhouse is used indoors or out. If used outdoors, heat from the sun may build in the greenhouse to scorch your plants without cross ventilation of fresh air. For growing mushrooms, fresh air is necessary to reduce the buildup of CO2 produced by mushrooms. - The frame includes a bar at the top that may be used for hanging a light fixture, as we did, or for use in hanging plant baskets. - The greenhouse cover has a flap all around that may be folded either inside the greenhouse or outside. If the greenhouse is used indoors, the flap might be folded inward to contain an environment. If used outdoors, the flap might be used to help weigh the cover down with bricks. - Both the windows and the doors can be tied up to allow ventilation. The windows are covered with a fine mesh to keep bugs out when the windows are open. - The plastic cover is very heavy and reinforced with integrated netting. For indoor use, it will provide many years of service. I can't attest as to how well the cover with withstand weather if left outside. - When no longer needed, disassembly would be easy so that it can be stored in a small space. If you plan to do this, I would leave the code tags on the parts and keep the instructions. The following are modifications we made to suit our purposes that may be useful for others considering this greenhouse. - The provided shelves are very flimsy, are not level and wouldn't hold much weight. We replaced the supplied shelves with shelving bought from Home Depot (as pictured) and secured them with plastic ties. - The unit supplies two levels of shelves that leaves a lot of wasted space. We used the same shelving to install an additional shelf at the back of the greenhouse. This extra shelf was easily secured to the framework of the greenhouse. Additional shelves could be added to the sides of the greenhouse, but would require a couple parts from the seller that they won't supply. This is the reason for a 4-star rating instead of a 5-star rating. Considering all, I am very happy with this greenhouse, and would definitely recommend it. UPDATE 2/27/20: My endeavors to grow mushrooms in this greenhouse were semi-successful. I found that requirements of some of the different mushroom species make it difficult to grow the through fruiting in a enclosed area. Although I could supply plenty of lighting, without fresh air circulating from outside, it was difficult to control a buildup of CO2. Mushrooms, like yeast, give off CO2 and when this builds up, some growing mushrooms abort. Some require high temperature and humidity when pinning, and then less of both for fruiting. Others like cooler temperatures and aren't quite so sensitive to CO2. I had good success in growing Lion's Mane, Shiitake, King Oysters, and Chestnut mushrooms in this greenhouse, and had the most problems with Oyster mushrooms such as pink, golden, and blue oysters. Last spring, I put all of my mushroom blocks outside in a semi-shaded area around my patio and they all produced like crazy until fall. Since then, I have converted the greenhouse to grow vegetable and herb seedlings that I grow indoors under lights. From here on, my mushrooms will live outside. I have added some pictures of my mushrooms growing outdoors, mushrooms that grew well in the greenhouse, and also a couple of how the greenhouse is set up now. I hope this review was helpful for you, and will update my review if my opinion changes. ... show more
