Frequently asked questions

The 2-in-1 feature in the Dell Latitude 7390 refers to its ability to function as both a laptop and a tablet. This flexibility is achieved through a touchscreen display and a hinge that allows the screen to rotate or fold back completely, making it versatile for different uses such as typing, viewing, or interactive sessions.

The Dell Latitude 7390 comes with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD, which for many users provide sufficient performance and storage. While upgrading is technically possible, it depends on the specific model's build and warranty terms. It's recommended to consult with Dell or a professional before attempting to upgrade components to avoid voiding any warranty.

Thunderbolt 3 support in the Dell Latitude 7390 offers a high-speed connection that significantly surpasses traditional USB connections. It allows for lightning-fast data transfer, connection to high-resolution external displays, and the ability to link with a range of peripherals using a single port. This feature is especially beneficial for professionals who need to transfer large files quickly or connect to multiple displays and devices for enhanced productivity.

A 'Renewed' Dell Latitude 7390 laptop has been inspected and tested by Amazon-qualified suppliers or by Dell to work and look like new. This process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. Purchasing a 'Renewed' laptop can be a cost-effective way to obtain high-tier specs at a lower price, and it often comes with a warranty. However, it's important to buy from reputable sources to ensure the quality and service support.

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Dell 13.3" 2-in-1 laptop with a Core i7 processor offers a blend of performance and versatility, with users appreciating its fast boot-up times, clear display, and seamless conversion between laptop and tablet modes. Despite its generally positive reception for its processing power and design, some buyers report significant issues with battery life, power supply compatibility, and internal build quality, especially in refurbished models. Customer experiences vary widely, indicating potential inconsistencies in the refurbishment process.

Pros

  • 🚀 Fast performance and quick boot-up times
  • 🔧 Versatile 2-in-1 design, easily transitioning between laptop and tablet
  • 🖥️ Crisp display with Gorilla Glass for durability
  • ✨ Includes a range of useful ports for connectivity
  • ⌨️ Fluid typing experience with a usable trackpad

Cons

  • 🔋 Significant battery life issues, with some reports of misleading battery health information
  • ⚙️ Inconsistent build quality in refurbished units, including missing screws and damaged parts
  • ⚡ Compatibility issues with power supplies, receiving incorrect types
  • 🛠️ Some units arrive in poor cosmetic condition or with hardware problems straight out of the box

Should I Buy It?

If you're in need of a versatile 2-in-1 laptop with strong performance for tasks like graphic design or casual gaming, this Dell model could be a compelling option, especially for those interested in a portable solution. However, the purchase of a refurbished model comes with considerable risks, such as battery and build quality issues. Buyers should weigh these factors carefully and consider their tolerance for potential inconvenience against the cost savings of a refurbished unit.

  • 13.3" Dell 2 in 1 laptop with Core i7 quad core processor
My particular configuration was: 13.3" Dell 2 in 1 laptop with Core i7 processor 1.9-4.2 GHZ range, 16GB DDR4 Ram, 500BG NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD drive. CPU architecture supports 64-bit system applications. Intel UHD 620 graphics supports up to 3 displays and can display 4k video (however this laptop display monitor is only 1920 x 1080) but I believe you could connect this to an external 4k monitor as a second display unit.) Of course, built-in wireless networking using Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8265 Wi-Fi + BT 4.2 Wireless Card (2x2). Special features: This laptop folds and converts to a tablet. The touch screen is constructed out of gorilla glass it has a built-in web camera, microphone, and speakers. It has two USB A type three full-size ports (one on each side of the unit), two Thunderbolt 3/USB C ports on the left side (one used for the charger), a full-sized HDMI port (left side), a micro SD slot and a 1/8" headphone jack terminal on the right side. A/C adaptor is included mine was a 65W adaptor. Hands performance review: Boots up extremely fast, nice backlit keyboard though the keyboard is compact with no separate number keypad (typical in this size of a unit). The display is extremely crisp and the glass monitor adds a touch of class and elegance to the display. No issues with graphics performance I am a graphic designer and found the performance very nice though this is my travel computer so I don't do large projects on it. I'm sure it could handle the tasks through the NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD drive and the fast processor means that it would work though I would have to hook up a larger external monitor. Conclusions: A nice Windows 10 laptop with stellar performance, 2-in-1 laptop/tablet design, and excellent value as a refurbished unit. Mine personally was like new no scratches though lacking a retail box. I feel the display size large enough for working yet small enough for compact travel situations such as airline travel. ... show more

  • Modified/bad battery info
So when it arrived, unpacked it. Could definitely tell it was used. Unwind the power adapter and of course there's a few small slices in the usb-c side of cable. None of them look to have made it through to bare wire. I plug it in and wait about an hour as I plan on using it for awhile at a time. So I've always kept it plugged in when I use it as probably going to use it longer then what battery holds. Well until recently when I wasn't able to be plugged in I went to use it, turned it on says full charge and it lasted about 5-10 mins and shut off when I walked away. I thought ok its just conserving battery life and is a feature. Start it back up and I get a black reboot screen saying low power and gave me 3 options. I shut it of and waited till I could plug in. Plugged it in and it says 70% charge. After doing some research and digging on internet. I found out a lot of aftermarket refurbishers third party battery vendors/sellers are modify the coding on the battery chip to show full charge and best/desirable battery life. I was never expecting the battery to a marathon winner or even close to what it's advertised usage time is. I was hoping for a bare minimum of 4 hrs but not even 10 mins. Of course I find this out just after it's past my 90 day return window. A replacement battery is 130 thru dell. I feel as tho this particular refurbisher/renewer is not in accordance with the Amazon renew term and is selling laptops with bogus battery life. Now I'm stuck with a portable computer that I should be able to use while I'm in the field but is now on a power leash and is not so portable anymore. ... show more

  • Great color and fluid typing
I am a stickler on color as I hybridize hibiscus, and so few laptop computers reproduce the colors close to what they should be. I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 that has excellent color, but the form factor of this Dell 7390 2 in 1, beats it hands down with equally good color. It also has very fluid typing, and a trackpad that I actually find usable. I'm am sure the trackpad likely does more than I am aware of, but the two fingered scroll is very handy. Once more, the refurbished unit I received looks indistinguishable from new. The only negative is that the one I received had 2 or 3 sticky keys, that you either had to push on hard or repeatedly for it to register. However, by repeatedly, pushing the sticky keys, i.e., holding them down and alternatively pushing it repeatedly, they are now essentially normal. I would say Dell 7390 is the best portable I have had, and I have had some reputedly great ones, like the Lenovo Yoga, which is also excellent but developed over time colored vertical lines on the screen. At the price of this refurbished Dell, which is still selling new for 4 to 6 time the price, it is hard to beat. ... show more

  • Buying refurbished requires tenacity and luck.
As others have noted, buying refurb is often hit-or-miss. First, take the published specs with a grain of salt. Vendors appear to post specs for fully-optioned devices but ship whatever they have. My first Latitude 2-in1 arrived fully decked out with fingerprint reader, IR + web cams, NFC--none of which worked well, if at all; Windows wouldn't update. A peak inside revealed a cheap aftermarket battery and SSD, some grime and a WiFi antenna that had been spliced using masking tape. Amazon Tech support was great, and we decided that either the SSD was defective or the vendor had failed to load the digital Windows license. The replacement looked brand new (a 2019 model instead of 2018) and worked flawlessly. The Dell branded battery tested nearly new. I upgraded the original Samsung (!) SSD with an even faster 1TB Crucial P3 Plus SSD along with an Intel AX210 (Wi-Fi 6) network card. I now have a fast, beautiful 2-in-1, upgraded seamlessly to Windows 11--at a great price point. HOWEVER, I had to let go of all the advertised options, because this newer, more lightly used machine has NONE of them, other than 16GB RAM--which is important because it's NOT upgradeable. By the time you factor in the hassle of the replacement, you might reasonably question whether the low price is worth it. Good luck! ... show more
