Battery life is not the best and its a very large laptop so I wouldnt recommend it for traveling with. However if you are planning to keep this at home to work with I highly recommend it. Just ran RAM, SAP2000 and AutoCad all simultaneously and the laptop was able to perform all the required function, even with youtube and spotify playing in the background. Does it work? - Yes, no complaints from me Battery life? - Not the best option, but I keep it at home anyway so its not an issue for me Set-up - Was a bit annoying, had to do it twice. NOTE: I am not, and have no plans to be a gamer; this machine fits more home and business needs. I was trying to return this for a replacement as it kept crashing. Only had it a month. Crashing started week after purchase. Amazon put me in touch with Dell to do tech support. I had the worst customer service ever. Dell said they were going to call, they said I needed to purchase a 99.00 software service they will email to me for a download. Nothing happened. No phone call. No link. I even called them and was on hold for 45 minutes while tossed between 5 different transfers and then hung up on. I called back and i was told the tech was going to call me back shortly. Never happened. Then i get an email today says they are refunding my software service since they couldnt connect with me. I'm furious. There was no contact except with my attempts. I told Amazon on May 31 that if Dell could not fix this laptop, i am sending it back for full refund or NEW replacement. The man on the other end said yes and ok. Now i see here online i do not have the option to return now as returning had an end date of May 31. I was not told this on the phone. Update: Amazon did help me return this. Step by step instruction. And as soon as it gets there I will get a full refund. I ordered a new one. At first I was wondering why this model is so much more expensive than it's competitors with similar paper specs. People were saying it's the screen. And WOW they were right. It's a weird thing saying that I've stopped using my tv and just have been using my laptop instead. But the screen quality is insanely crisp!! The battery is also crazy impressive. The G7 17 is, so far, a great buy for me. I play Sea of Thieves, which this computer will run on legendary graphics setting easy and not break a sweat. It has a non glare monitor, so if someone happens to flip the lights on it doesn't create a blind spot if youre in the middle of some action. Easy to access recording for any kind of streaming or recording without having to download any extra hardware. Warning Label: the warning has nothing to do with the computer itself. Its amazons inability to check the box before shipping. I bought the G7 17, hench why im here reviewing it. I first received in the mail a XPS 15 that happened to have a G7 sticker in the bottom corner of the box. The box itself was riddled with XPS 15 wording. After a short 15min conversation with amazon they "overnighted" the correct laptop, which I received 2 days later. So be wary, make sure you open the box and check that it is indeed what you ordered! My wife likes a laptop with a really large screen. This does the job nicely. Previous one was over five years old and the screen was starting to fail. This one is a much better screen (brighter and higher resolution). This was pricy but well worth the cost. The performance is amazing, it runs modern games on ultra settings. The laptop is sturdy and physically well made, the screen looks good. The software ran smoothly and required almost no effort on my end to optimize(that's pretty rare). The custom keyboard lighting looks sharp and is easy on sensitive eyes.
