These are essentially 4.5 stars. I've been using this light for about 7 months now, and they are so intense that you can easily see them in a brightly lit room. This might make them too extreme for accent lighting in dim light, like I am doing, but the Bladerunner effect that they create is stunning. The light is consistently soft across the entire length, but you can see shadows if you look really close, but you wouldn't notice them from a normal viewing distance, even a close one. They do get warm and are soft to the touch when on for awhile, which isn't a bad thing, except that when they are off, the material cools off again and seems to slightly retract to its more rigid state. This might cause a problem if you have installed it where you have stretched the entire length of light, and I wonder if that is the issue others have had with sections going dark: installing too tightly while warm and gradually over-stressing the material as it cools over time, over and over again. Light up to make sure they work, but then let them cool and install them at or just below normal room temperature. I intentionally leave a bit of play in between where I secure it to objects to account for this thermal stretching over time. I haven't had to use the included silicone or connectors, though I do appreciate that they give you a bag of (roughly 100) short zip ties. These ties aren't very long, but they ended up working great with the sticky, trapezoid-shaped, plastic fasteners that I also got on Amazon. Otherwise, they are of limited use; I had to use 2 or 3 of them looped together and that just looked tacky. Everyone who sees these lights are amazed at how bright they are. They are not dimmable, so that's kind of too bad, and the power is pretty simple: you plug it into the outlet when you want it on, and you unplug it if you want the lights off. Not very sophisticated. You can get around this by plugging the lights into an RF extension outlet, also on Amazon, that is remote controlled and mount the remote with double sided tape/Velcro to your wall or elsewhere to act as an on/off switch. ... show more

These got attached to my mobile food trailer and they are WOW. Neons would have cost me a good bit and take up way too much amperage. These are just as bright and look like neon without the buzzing, energy consumption, and price tag. I use them to let customers know we're open when it's dark or just to draw attention and it works. They seem to have an odd licorice smell when they're on the first few times. It's going away but it's still fairly strong. Hence the one star missing. Two people put them up for me in about an hour around the top of my trailer, so I'd say installation is easy. ... show more

This is the best light I have worked with, they give you extra power cord if you cut it and extra connectors and caps as well as sealant. Most complete set you will get anywhere.
