  • Great match with the DT770 Pro 80ohms
Style: Deconi-Choice Leather
I originally got the Elite series leather pads, but found them to be way too stiff to create any kind of seal, and they made the sound stage narrow and the bass was quieter and boomy. These choice leather pads on the other hand are the complete opposite. They are extremely soft and mold-able, the bass levels were increased, but its not over the top and it is also not boomy. The sound stage seems to be about the same or better than the stock pads, but my stock pads were pretty shot, having used them for 3.5 years. I was hesitant to get the choice leather option because fake leather can be pretty bad, but the material Dekoni has made is almost perfect for headphones, I don't think real leather could ever beat it. For a reference, it's the same material they use on their replacement headband, and the ear pads are very similar in feel to the Sony XB950N1 ear pads, which I love. Overall I recommend these much more than the Elite series pads. ... show more

  • Great upgrade for your MMX 300 2nd Gen
Style: Deconi-Choice Leather
I'm an adult computer enthusiast, a gamer, and I enjoy a variety of music and podcasts. My Astro headset died after years of use. In an effort to spend my money wisely, I did some research on my next headset. ZeosPantera and his Z Reviews helped me settle on the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 (2nd Generation) as the headset of choice. I enjoyed his videos so much (despite knowing I simply do not fully appreciate sound in the way he and most of his audience does), I ended up watching a whole slew of them (and, I'll admit, still play a few every now and then -- I'm hooked). Anyways, in one of his videos, he runs through at least 10 variations of Dekoni Audio Replacement Ear Pads, using them on a dozen or so different sets of headphones/headsets, including the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 (2nd Generation). For each, he ranks the ear pads and recommends what works best. For the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 (2nd Generation), he gave this particular ear pad high marks. So, I splurged and bought them. First, these are very well made, and as I prepared to install them I had a chance to physically compare them to the stock ear pads. I'll tell you Beyerdynamic makes an excellent product, but they need to consider contracting with Dekoni because their pads are both visually superior and a tactile examination clearly reveals they are softer and made from superior materials. I installed them. Easy. These fit snug and are fully compatible. If you have MMX 300's, these work and fit very well. My ears aren't especially discriminating. Sure, I know what sounds good and what sounds like poop. The stock pads sound good and feel okay. I do wear glasses and the stock ones did over time hurt a bit, but that's what you get when you're old and got'ta wear specs. It's a tough life and you got'ta put up with some first-world problems, right? So, these new pads sound better. Don't look to me to tell you why or use the right words to describe it. They are just better. I like them. I think you will, too. Zeos agrees. Trust him. Look to him for the right words to explain how and why. I just don't have them to offer you. They're also much more comfortable. The first-worldw problem solved. They feel great, even when wearing them for hours. I'm happy I spent extra money on these pads after spending a bunch of money on some great headphones. If you're hemming-and-hawing over whether it's worth the extra costs, just do it. In the long run, you'll agree it was a worthwhile investment. Now, back to Z Reviews. They're fun. ... show more

  • Fantastic for MMX 300 but after a little over 2 years, the leather's starting to peel
Style: Deconi-Choice Leather
I really love how comfortable these are and how great they make my headphones sound. Only downside is after about just over 2 years, the pleather is starting to peel. I use them at least 10 hours a day and have done limited cleaning though. I think you can get some good mileage if you clean them every few weeks at least though! Great quality and super comfortable. Just wish they lasted longer. ... show more

  • Good pads, meh value
Style: Deconi-Choice Leather
Definitely prefer them over my stock pads. They're more comfortable, they don't make rubbing sounds when they move on my head, and I like what they did to the sound profile of the MMX300s. They were just a little too bright for my taste and the Dekonis dampened them a bit. They're kind of expensive for pads, but I don't know of a better option, so I guess you're paying for quality. ... show more

  • dt770 16ohm + choice leather= (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
Style: Deconi-Choice Leather
Omg YES! These were EXACTlY what my 16ohm dt770 pros needed. That’s right the first ever dekoni dt770 16ohm pad review!! :D I was pretty happy with the stock velour pads from beyerdynamic but I felt like they lacked a little something: soundstage, detail, and bass. In fact they were the culprit of my disappointment when buying these headphones in the first place. I grew to tolerate and actually enjoy listening to them over time. My first pad swap was a nightmare. I went against zeos’s recommendation for top pick for this headphone and got the elite hybrids and they completely neutered the sound. No added bass (in fact there was FAR less than the stock pad), and everything else was extremely airy and weak. They might’ve added some comfort and sound isolation but nothing more than that. So I got these beauties after I returned the hybrids and oh BOY did they ever do the trick! And at half the price?! Come on! Immediately I noticed they had superior comfort and sound isolation compared to the hybrids, as well as the stock pads. I listened through a few tracks to let the memory foam.. memory.. and all I could think about was “HOLY CRAP! where did all this bass and soundstage come from??”. They only get better as the pads warm up and conform to your skull. The choice leather dekoni designed, is on another level compared to anything I’ve tried. It’s so incredibly soft and doesn’t get warm (in my experience). -The sound isolation is on point -so is the comfort -so is the detail -excellent bass and sub bass (better than stock) -as Zeos says “Huuuge HUUUUUGE soundstage “ I couldn’t be happier with these. I’m hearing stuff in the headphones I’ve never heard before with the velour pads. They completely transformed them into something I love. Zeos was right and now you can be sure they’ll work for pretty much any of the dt770 variants. ... show more
