Description

Read more The Headphones The Sennheiser HD800 and HD800S are a gold standard in high end audiophile listening. Dekoni Audio’s pads are a little deeper than the stock pads opening up the sound stage, and the slow rebound memory foam helps alleviate clamp force for both glasses wearers and non. This pad truly is an upgrade and should increase the sound stage as well as your overall spatial awareness inside the headphones. If you’re looking to upgrade your pads, look no further. Easy Installation Our pads use the same mounting method as the stock pads, utilizing a plastic mounting ring to ensure easy installation and snug fit. Be sure to check out our installation video guide as well! Our Materials When you take soft, supple sheepskin and wrap it in dense, slow rebounding memory foam, you increase isolation, comfort and sound stage. The sheepskin and foam wrap and create a tight but comfortable seal on your head, even if you wear glasses, to ensure that our discerning listeners have a great headphone experience. Some measurements by others are made without headphones actually sitting on ears, or with adjustments to reflect the effect that the shape of a generic inner and outer ear will have on the sound waves – we don’t do that, because as every experienced audio enthusiast knows, we all have different ears! About Uncompensated Graphs The first thing to understand about an uncompensated graph is that it will sound different to the listener than the graph will show. For one, we haven’t smoothed our graphs, so there are many peaks and valleys that would have been lost information. There are other factors as well, such as the effect from the earcups and pads resting against a head and around ears, the human ear’s extra sensitivity to vocals, and that the shape of our ears and depth of our ear canals can actually amplify certain frequencies. For the purposes of swapping earpads, it is enough to say that a flat line along the 0 dB line wouldn’t sound “good” on these uncompensated graphs, a dip in the midrange is to be expected since human ears are more sensitive to that region, and mainly we want to focus on how a Dekoni pad compares to the Stock pad. • Comfortable, not a fan of how the sound changes
Color: Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin
More comfortable than the OEM pads. Does changes the soundstage a bit while also changing the sound signature. I do notice the increase in sub-bass and increased midrange as stated in the description of these pads, but not sure if I like the trade-off of a reduced soundstage. For me, the reduced soundstage makes it sounds a bit muffled, and since I like the clear/clean sound of the basic earpads I'm not really a fan of the changes. But I guess if you want to change the sound of your hd800 then it could be good. [EDIT] I chose to cut off the cover of the pads and used the base HD800 covers instead. I actually like it more. I wouldn't recommend others to cut their pads though as it's irreversible. ... show more

  • Comfort > Sound
Color: Elite Hybrid
The Dekoni Elite Hybrid change the sound of the headphone in exchange for comfort. You loose so much of the clarity and sense of space that the original pads have that it is not worth the “upgrade” / more like downgrade… The HD800s are already an expensive headphone and I should not have second guessed the work that the guys at Sennheiser did with the HD800s pads . Dekoni made the pads for the HD800 not the HD800s even if it fits the size… it does not fit sonically, which is what I was looking for. I wanted slightly more bass, reduce the treble peak, increase comfort and keep everything else. Yes, there is a boost in bass, less treble, more comfort but everything else that makes the HD800s is gone. ... show more

  • Expensive, definitely not real leather, but comfy as heck with some caveats.
Color: Elite Hybrid
Sonically, they do change the sound signature, but I will not be talking about that in this review. The pads are nice enough, and I like them more than the originals, but that's only personal preference. Be aware that the break-in time for this is at least a week if you got a big noggin, and they are not comfortable at all for that first week. They also really increase the clamping force so be aware of that is your sensitive to that kind of thing. Overall good product, high quality but obviously misleading. ... show more

  • COMFORT and SOUND for 8XX
Color: Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin
I liked this product because it increased the overall comfort of the 8XX. They are significantly more plush and cooler feeling than the stock earpads. The sound also is less muffled sounding. The highs are as detailed as I want without the sharpness from the normal 8XX.

  • nice quality pad. but change on sound characteristic
Color: Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin
I bought velour and fenestrated. both pads were good quality. but when I changed pad, I felt sound difference directly. basically, I felt more dry. so, I also measured the frequency response. (add a image in this review) in the image, red line is stock, green is fenestrated and blue is velour. as I feel, lose bass & mid range a bit and others change in other frequency sections. (even not include in the image, that loss bass actually make slight better THD ratio than stock in bass section.) I think it need to be thinner pad. it would make this sound change less. compare to the stock pad, these pad 2~3 times thicker. these pads are good. but the sound signature change are not my taste. ... show more

  • hd800s elite hybrid pads
Color: Elite Hybrid
Let me start off by saying I purchased the elite hybrid pads for my hd800s and haven't listened to any of their other options for this specific headphone. Now, these pads are AMAZING comfortability wise. I could wear them for hours and hours. HOWEVER, the sound changes these make are not my desired taste..... at all..... completely reduction in mid and sub base, super relaxed treble and miss. Also it makes the headphones so much quiter. To some possibly could be a good thing.... to me, completely ruined the sound. ( disappointing because they are Sooooo comfy) it makes it like im no longer even listening to the 800s anymore, sounds more like AKG 712 after pads (which I own) ... show more

  • Comfortable fit
Color: Elite Hybrid
They snap on easily. They are a little too thick for my taste though. You almost forget you're wearing the HD800's with the stock ear pads because of how light and thin they are. With the Dekoni's you've got memory foam cushions pushing on the sides of your head the entire time, reminding you of the giant cans on your head. They are even thicker than the pads on my HD820's. Price is a little steep but only $5 more than stock pads. The materials feel like nice quality, similar to my HD820's. They're just not as comfortable though, in the sense that you don't forget you're wearing them like you do with the stock pads. If you have the patience, I think it's better to order genuine replacement pads from SoundSpares and just wait for them to ship from the UK. Considering the stock pads are about the same price, I think they're the better option. ... show more

  • They look and feel great. They change the sound and I think it’s better.
Color: Elite Hybrid
I just got one HD800S and decided to try this pad as it has been positively reviewed. My initial impression is that, not only it looks to be of superior build quality (compared to the original), it is very comfortable and the fit is impressive. They look like they are original. The sound feels a bit more... but I don’t want to get into it as I don’t feel I have enough experience with a headphone of this caliber to make a judgement. I like the sound after the modification. That is a personal opinion. You may not like it but there is a definite change. ... show more
