  • All I can say is Wow!
Hi All, I love this banjo! I don't say that lightly. It wins on all three categories mentioned for this review: 1. For beginners - a wonderful instrument overall. I did my research and I am glad to have chosen Deering. 2. Value for money - definitely worth the price. A solid instrument and I am thrilled to be relearning on it. 3. Material Quality - everything is well made. Lots of attention given to detail, in my opinion. I am more than satisfied with my purchase!!! (Banjo and bag) I hope to upgrade way down the line to one of your 'swankier' versions after mastering this model. Thank you for a all around great banjo! ... show more

  • Don't expect much from the tuner
If you are a beginning player, this is a great instrument. You will get frustrated trying to learn on a bad one so be kind to yourself and spend a little more for a quality one. The instrument and bag are great, however the tuner is not a value add. I ended up ditching it within a week. Not a huge deal.....there are free tuning apps you can use. The tuner is the only thing that made this a 4 star review. ... show more

  • Buy this one
Incredible instrument for the money, they trimmed the fat in all the right places. Comes perfectly set up and is easily and instantly playable. I have never experienced an instrument this high quality for what you will pay.

  • Great to learn
My teacher loves that I picked this. Pegs don’t slip and can make a BIG sound which is fun. It’s a good company.

  • Hey! It's a Deerng!
I own six banjos two very expensive resonators, a Weyman tenor, a Deering tenor (for Irish) and this banjo, which is my #1 Go To banjo for just practicing but is also my Frailing banjo for Folk and traditional American music. I love the way it feels and looks every detail. Mine is the dark color, not blonde. It gets a lot of attention. It is the one next t my main chair for just picking up on a whim killing time. Love its sound, size, and appearance. One of the very few American made banjos on the market. My other "American Name Brands", while also excellent banjos, were made in China. ... show more

  • Ninjas, take note!
Probably one of the most effective double handed weapons you can carry anywhere. There is nothing more painful than being struck with a banjo.
