    • Far from 'basic', this kit has every key item you need to maintain your skis and boards

I've been skiing for over 40 years and in the past 10 years I have taken on more and more of the maintenance required to keep our family well equipped when they hit the slopes. As such, I've learned how to wax skis and snowboards, do simple base repairs using PTEX, and care for the edges of our skis and snowboards so they perform at their highest. This also saves us money we would otherwise spend having a service take care of our equipment instead. I've been hoping to get my tools better organized, and while I was browsing Amazon this new kit from DEERFAMY happened to pop up. Let me tell you, this kit is exactly what I'd envisioned in terms of a compact but complete toolkit. I am seriously impressed. They have included everything that you typically need in order to hotwax your skis. They have also included the extra things you need if you want to do a thorough tune-up or if you have to make a small repair to the base of your ski or snowboard. You get a metal scraper, a plastic scraper, brillo-pad style polishing cloths, some wax, an edge-file tool, and more. Of course the provided iron is the key. This iron has a wide temperature range and a good sized base. This is just what you need when you are waxing skis because not all waxes are applied using the same temperature. Overall this is great. I'm going to pass down the shoebox that is starting to fall apart that is full of things I had been using to my adult son who lives out of state, and use this kit from now on. A+ ... show more

    • Awesome snowboard or ski tuning kit

I've been tuning my snowboard for many years and really needed a new kit. I'm very happy with this setup, the iron is so nice to have. I've been using an old travel iron I got at a resell store, but this is so much better. Having an edge tuner is a must for me as I'm no expert and this makes getting your edges at the right angle so much easier. It's also got a few PTEX sticks, and who can't use more of those? It even includes an apron, which is going to save me from getting wax all over my clothing. And a big plus for me, it all fits nicely into it's own carry case. Without that, I'd end up losing pieces. The only thing I'd skip using is the included wax, since it's training wax. Might be good to use while learning how to tune your board but I wouldn't use it on the slopes. With the winter sports seasons almost upon us, this is a great set to have. You can find videos on YouTube on how the best way to tune and wax your board/skis, and everything you'll need to follow along is here. It will end up paying for itself in the long run. ... show more

This is a great starter kit to get going on waxing your own skis. It comes with some general wax that really isn't specialized to any certain condition. But hey, it's wax which is better than no wax. There are a few specialized pieces of equipment missing, but those can be picked up for not too much more. The bag is nice because there's enough room to fit another iron in it. This is a fairly complete kit and is a great value for everything included. Most decent irons will cost this much alone. This kit will get you started and as you become more skilled you will want to add some items. One thing you shouldn’t bother with is the ptex drip candles. You will never do as good a job as the repair guns in a shop and a tech will charge you more to remove the inferior work that you created.
