  • Great air cooler for the money, works quite well on Ryzen 7 5800X
Style: AK500
I don't overclock, so didn't want to mess with water cooling / AIO (seems to be a lot of fussing) so was looking for a good air cooler. Items key to me: decent cooling that doesn't interfere with DIMMs, and a good price. The AK500 checks those boxes, and works quite well on my Ryzen 7 5800X, keeping it right around the 80C range when running a stress test. It seems to be a good value and I'm happy with it. PROS: - Keeps my CPU cool enough to prevent serious throttling in my situation (stock clocking), even under stress test load. - Fan is quiet, so far. Even if it starts to get loud, it is super easy to replace since it's a 120mm fan and uses clips to hold it to the heatsink tower. - Being a single tower cooler that has an offset, there were no DRAM/DIMM clearance issues to worry about at all. - Nice machining, with a solid heat plate contacting the CPU versus visible bottom heat pipes like on other coolers. - Brackets for AMD (AM4 socket) were easy to install, didn't have to remove it from the case. I removed only one of the stock brackets at a time to keep the backplate from falling out. CONS: - Installing is quite tricky when the motherboard is still in the case. Hardest part is aligning the rear/left screw (the screw that you have to access through the heatsink). I was doing it blind since the rear VRM heatsinks on my motherboard were blocking my view. How I did it: I loosened up one of the mounting brackets a bit to give me a little play, got the front/right screw (the one you can see) partially threaded, then just pivoted the heatsink and "felt around" to align it with the threaded stud and feel it was threading on. Then I tightened the bracket and both mounting screws, alternating between them so it went on nice and straight. - Reviews indicate the included thermal paste isn't great. Can't comment one way or another, but I used Arctic MX-6 instead, as it was worth a few extra bucks to get a little more cooling "umph". - Fins are quite thin and bend easily. Handle with care. - It's fairly tall. Make sure it fits your case. Mine claims 160mm max cooler height, and it JUST fits. ... show more

  • Whisper Quiet.
Style: AK620
The cooler is a giant brick. I was very surprised by the cooler's size. If you have high profile RAM then you might have to adjust one of the fans for clearance. Installation was a big of a nightmare. If you have big hands like me, do yourself a favor and install the cooler outside of the case. It was much easier when I did that. The sound level is insanely quiet. My first time booting up, I kept checking to see if the fans were spinning. That is how silent this thing is. It keeps the CPU at a constant 38 degrees while working or web browsing. During a gaming session it will stay at a constant 48. For reference, I am playing games like SCUM and Star Citizen on max settings. All in all, I like this cooler. It came highly recommended and I can see why. ... show more

  • Definitely a Top 5 Air Cooler
This air cooler is very affordable and does a sensational job at cooling my 5950x. The 5950x is very efficient, so the TDP isn't too crazy, but this cooler keeps the CPU well under 80c even during a prolonged torture test. I previously had a ThermalTake AIO, and even out of the box, a year before it failed, the AIO couldn't cool my CPU nearly as good (which is shocking). Don't cheap out and buy a $30 cooler, and get this one instead. AIOs die, heatsinks are forever. ... show more

  • Easy-ish to install, performs very well for the money.
Style: AK620
The install is a bit clunky, but every cooler that uses that two-spring-screw setup has the same issue. The packaging does not include the backplate for the motherboard, this one uses the rectangle one. So, if you are changing coolers and replacing one that used the X style backplate then remember to grab the other style plate if you threw it out on your initial build. Other than that, no issues. I have it atop a 5900x and both idle and 100% load temps are well within acceptable range. Would happily use this in other builds. ... show more

  • Looks great, BIG OL BOY
Got this for my new gaming build. Let me just say, this cooler is a BEAST. She's LORGE and I'm CHORGE. Be mindful of your case measurements and any clearance issues with other components. This literally JUST fit inside my case. That said, it was super easy to install, and comes with it's own thermal compound (though I'm sure some of you will want to use a different brand, I was fine with what was provided). The white looks great with the white Lian Li midtower case I got, and she runs niiiice and quiet. Very happy with it, overall. ... show more

  • Best CPU air cooler
Style: AK620
Recently upgraded my cpu from a ryzen 2700x to a ryzen 5700x. The temps in the newer cpu were much higher than I am used to, which is inevitable since it is a newer cpu, however, knowing that these cpu's are meant to be at higher temps, it still made me uncomfortable. So, I bought this air cooler after looking at some reviews online and it was the best upgrade. With the old cooler, temps under load would be between 70C-80C and with this new cooler temps under load would be between 60C-70C. Such a drastic change. 10/10 would recommend. ... show more

  • Really nice, lower weight heatsink for the cash - great performer - OK machining
Style: AK400 ZERO DARK PLUS
Overall the AK400 Zero Dark Plus an impressive performer for the weight and size. Focusing on the contact area and machining, I used a marker and then checked the surface using 3K grit on 1/2" tempered glass. Machine marks were clearly evident but no red flags. Will perform well for most. We then dug in a bit and wet sanded starting at 600 which showed some unevenness on the heat pipe contact area. To make perfect, dropped to 320 and leveled. then 600, 1200, 1500, 2000 and finished it off at 3000. Good to go! ... show more

  • Great Cooler
Style: AK620
Was experiencing crashes due to my cpu overheating, and just so happened to see this cooler mentioned on Reddit. After watching a few reviews I decided to pull the trigger. Honestly the price to performance can’t be beat. The package includes the cooler, thermal paste, and a fan splitter, and my pc went from 75c idle to around 40 while gaming. So if you want something that’s good, easy to install, and isn’t too costly then I’d pick this up. ... show more
