    • "Military grade iron", huh? Ok shelves, requires studs for full weight claims.

This one is going to be fairly short... We bought these shelves to put a few figures and memorabilia up on our walls. I had no intention of putting 55lbs of weight on these things... which is good, because there's NO way these things will support 55lbs of weight with their included drywall anchors. The manufacturer even alludes to this in their instructions, indicating they highly recommend using studs to support the shelf. NOTE: the mounting brace that the shelf sits on, is fairly sturdy, but I wouldn't call it 'Military grade' anything. That said, for our use, it works. I'd have ranked it a 5 star, HOWEVER, the sort of 'set screws' that go through the board into the mounting brace do NOT sit flush or below the surface of the recessed holes. Instead, they sit slightly above the holes... not a big deal, right? Well.. sort of. The color/texture on the outside of the shelves is a heavy laminate contact paper, and if we'd mounted our shelves the proper way, with the set screws on the bottom.. then the top edge of the laminate would catch anything that you try to slide off the shelf, since it's not fully wrapped on the front. So, the best route for us, was to mount it with the screws in the top... AND, since we're putting collectibles on the shelf, I had to put some tape over the screws, otherwise they'd have marred up the bottom of the collectibles. Not a HUGE deal, but if the screws and the laminate had been properly accounted for, then none of that would have mattered. So, potentially a QC issue with these... BUT, they DO look nice at least.. even if they are primarily for knick knacks and the like. Recommended, but be aware of potential QC issues. ... show more

Very well made floating shelves, and the "veneer" is gorgeous. I love the size. This kit comes with all the hardware necessary for hanging. They're going to be great for my son's room to display his Superhero Figures collection. Perfect size for a few books as well. Very good quality.
