  • Works well for my needs
I use this to test equipment for my job, only requires 12v-13V and no more than 3A. This is similar to what I use in my office, however, the coarse tuning knob for voltage is very sensitive. Once I have voltage set I do need to use the fine tuning knob to simulate a voltage spike and they are close together so I make some oopsie a here and there. I’ll likely add an extension to the knob to make it easier and not hit the coarse knob by accident but it holds its settings perfectly and is a wildly good value. Noise levels are a little better than I expected at this price point so I’m very happy with this product. ... show more

  • Very nice variable voltage and current power supply.
Nice power supply with variable voltage and current. Great for bench work or most anything requiring up to 30 volts at up to 10 amps. The voltage coarse control is slightly touchy, but if you turn slowly should be no problem, then use the fine adjust know to get exact voltage you want. Works great for my usage. Seems well made and neat package. ... show more

  • Working as it should
Size: 30V 5A Color: Gray
I bought this unit in order to electroform jewelry components and it is working fine for my application. I’ve only had it a short time so I can’t speak to its long term reliability. The instruction sheet leaves a little to be desired if you have no prior knowledge, and there is zero ability to communicate with the manufacturer. Just saying… ... show more

  • Great but what’s the max power output?
The media could not be loaded. Pros: Good value. V/I limiters. Accessories. Cons: 300W max output? Likely not. I figured it was time I get myself a benchtop power supply instead of using these wall plugs that I have. Most reviewers did say the knobs are a challenge to use and I agree. The fine and coarse are not what you expect in terms of precision. So having a multimeter handy is at the very least a must have. Along with the multimeter it hit 5V, 12V, and max with no issue - max it can do seems to be 31.54V. When set to 0V and then discharging the output caps you get 2.5mV. When you power it off from max it takes about 40sec to get to 100mV. To get to max from off is less than 3sec. The current limiter seems to work fine. You can see picture I tested it at 10A. My fuse isn’t working so I can’t really verify if it’s truly 10A. Considering that the voltage wasn’t too far off I’d say it’s accurate. I don’t know what the maximum power output is and the manual doesn’t give a clear indication other than the range. I posted a question and maybe the seller will respond. You can search for “maximum power output”. So is it truly 300W? Unlikely, since it small. It comes with a few alligator clips which is very much appreciated. Overall, I’d say this is great for home use and if you’re purchasing this then most likely you already have a DMM to go with it. Just be aware we/I don’t know the max power output. *Update* Seller responded that it is 300W. I need find some beefy resistors to test it out someday. Will update when I get to it. ... show more

  • It would have been nice to have a new power supply as payed for ....
Size: 30V 5A Color: Gray
The product was obviously used by someone before me - box was dogeared from previous handling, screen protector cellophane was crumpled and loose in the box and finger marks all over the screen. I have yet to see if the product works, but not impressed so far. Update - i went to use the power supply today - dead out of the box. I checked the fuse - this has blown!! So much for a new product - it is going back :-( ... show more

  • Very easy to use, helpful measurement tool
Size: 30V 5A Color: Gray
I was not sure exactly what a power supply with "adjustable voltage and current" really was... The description is not very clear. Now that i have it in my grubby little hands, I fully understand that, and love it! Here is how you use the current adjustment. It is both a current limit, as well as a ammeter. In other words, you can set it to not allow more current than you set. Set it by putting the DC volts at around 5 volts, short out the power supply, and adjust the current to the maximum you ever want in your current project. Un-short, set the voltage, and off you go. If your circuit tries to draw more current than you have set, a small hammer comes out from the back of the supply and smashes your project... :) No, actually, the voltage drops. The great thing is, you can read out the current draw, so in effect, you have a current meter on your project, which is REALLY NICE! It seems very accurate, as well: I set mine to 0.500 amps, and it got all the way to 0.499 and did not interfere. Amazing! BTW, this ability SHOULD allow you to charge a LI-ION battery. Set max current to 500 ma, and voltage to 4.2 or less. Initially, the battery will draw way more than 500 ma, so voltage will drop to correct voltage to deliver 500 ma. Once it gets to a point where full voltage is reached, the current will drop off. NOTE: if battery voltage is less than 2.8V, trickle-charge it first with 10 ma before you go to full current charge. Also, when current is less than 50 ma, you are done. Great lab supply! Get 2, so you can have two separate voltages!!! ... show more

  • Works, but not what I needed it for
It works fairly well as a power source, but I originally bought it for copper plating. It does not like conductive paint for some reason, I can't get the amprage up high enough without upping the voltage and burning the copper. I was hoping to get away from my homemade power supply and have more control over my plating process, but I guess I'll have to stick with my old phone charger as a plating power supply. It does work fine if I'm plating another metal with copper, so maybe I'll try with a copper based paint instead of a graphite based paint. If it works for a copper based paint I'll up the rating since I would be able to stop using my old phone charger as a power source. To be clear, I have zero issues using an old charger that outputs 5v at 0.3amp. but I can't even get this thing to stick to 0.01 amp at 5v on my graphite paint. I did test this on other devices, and I plan on keeping it for other projects I have planned, just probably will not be using it as my initial intention ... show more
