I have an unorthodox use for DC powered water pumps. I use them to circulate water from my above ground swimming pool through a solar water heater panel to keep my pool at a comfortable temperature. I power the pump directly with a 25-watt solar panel. The pump effectively facilitates the solar heater system, although it does have one minor operational quirk that requires manual intervention. Its primary function, circulating pool water through the solar heater, is accomplished admirably. The pump's performance is consistent, ensuring a steady flow of water for effective heat transfer. I found that it helped maintain water temperature ultimately improving the overall comfort of my pool water. Installation was a breeze. It conveniently connects to drip irrigation lines that I have running to the solar heater. Wiring was simple, positive and negative cables wired to an adapter plug for my solar panel. However, the one downside of this pump is its inability to automatically turn on when the sun rises. Unfortunately, it requires manual intervention, specifically unplugging and plugging it back in to initiate operation. This inconvenience can disrupt the heating system I have in place If I am not able to unplug and plug it back in while there is still adequate sunlight. I have used other pumps that turn on automatically, unfortunately they did not last too long before failing. While the need for manual intervention is certainly an inconvenience, it's worth noting that this issue does not impact the pump's overall performance or reliability once it is manually switched on. Once activated, the pump consistently circulates water as intended, effectively maximizing the benefits of solar heating. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Nice pump. Very quiet. My only problem is that I was trying to use a 20 watt solar panel for power and that isn't enough. The pump pulses on and off. Other than that an excellent value.

After trying three other water pumps for my 2 liter stainless steel aquarium canister filter, this water pump works perfectly. It’s extremely quiet and strong. Canister is connected to a 10 gallon freshwater tank. I’ve connected my water pump to a 12 v variable speed controller. I’ve set it to half speed since the flow for my size tank is more than plenty.
