    • Low cost replacement but I am concerened with the quality control of the alternator
Low cost replacement but has a whine noise when vehicle is running at idle, which indicates alternator issues. Headlights and other electrical loads will get substantially brighter when accelerating or revving engine at idle. I think the alternator will need to be repaired soon, as I am an ASE and Michigan State certified automotive technician currently employed at a car dealership for more than 10 years ... show more

    • If you only need it to last 18 months, this is the one!
After about 18 months and 7,000 miles, I noticed a lot of noise coming from the engine in my 2001 Sierra 1500. Listened around with a mechanics stethoscope, and the alternator and idler pulley sounded loud. New alternator, so it has to be the idler pulley, right? Well, yeah, it was bad, but put it back together and it was still noisy. I could literally feel vibrations on the alternator case. Not a total loss, I paid extra for a warranty that paid off. Luckily I had the original Delphi alternator (that had a growly bearing at 145k) and I had it rebuilt by a local shop. Tired of China junk, it cost more to get the Delphi rebuilt but I got the same alternator back and it should last as long as I do. No more noise! ... show more

This was a perfect match. Even the pulley color was the same as my original, 20 yr old alternator. (Cant believe it lasted that long.) The reviews about the noise it made worried me. But I could barely hear a whining when running. I think this is normal no matter what alternator you get. Saved more than twice the price if I had bought at auto parts store. Although parts store offered lifetime warranty I still would save money if I had to buy another one in a couple of years. ... show more
