  • Louder/lower than my Audioengine speakers and $100 less
Size: 6.5in Color: Matte Black
It's great that they go down to 35hz with good power—the best value for the price when you include how low and loud they go. I returned my Audioengine speakers which were $100 more, I thought these sounded better overall. The remote is cheap and plastic, however, functions well. I wish they had a ribbon tweeter option and more power options. If they had a small sub to match that goes down to 20hz I would take it at a reasonable price. Last, but not least the closed-box design increases placement options, I placed them close to the wall and didn't have dramatic sound changes. I do wish there was a dedicated light for the bass boost to indicate if it was on or not. A three way configuration that went down to 20hz with 100-150 watts would be amazing! ... show more

  • Great (accurate sound) but...
Size: 4in Color: Matte Black
These Dayton Audio M4 Powered Desktop Speakers put out good sound. When I say good sound, I am not referring to loudness or the bass output and such. I mean the fidelity of the sound. I don't use the USB DAC on these. I connected these speakers to a Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD USB Audio Interface via RCA cable. You get a nice clean sound with these, and since these have no bass ports the low end comes off present but clean, no boom boom. I got the 4 inch versions, and the bass is respectable even without the bass enhancement (which I never really use). You have the option to connect a subwoofer to this, if bass is your thing. These speakers seem well crafted for the most part, and they ship with nice cables, banana plugs (which are a bit shorter than 6 feet), and then RCA cables, and then USB C, and the power cable. It also ships with a remote control which is cool, and also necessary for some features. The flaws in my opinion revolve around user experience. These don't come with a proper display, and so you are never really sure what mode the speakers are in or if you've turned on a feature. For instance, if you trigger the bass enhancement on the speakers, there is no light , or indicator on the display, you have to rely on your ears alone. It is worse with volume since these speakers use an infinite scroll knob, and you never know to what degree you have increased the volume exactly. So, for instance, if you turn on the volume, and then turn off the music and return later to listen, you don't know if the volume is at 100% or 20%. I now have to remind myself to turn the knob all the way to left every time I turn these speakers on, and so that I am not surprised by louder than expected music. (All you get is a light indicator dot that changes color. Orange for standby. Green for Aux, Blue for Bluetooth). I have only just started using these, so I am still in sort of an evaluation phase. Bottomline: great detailed sound, but mediocre execution from a customer user experience. Note: I use this currently, as an alternative way to monitor music mixes, and have them set about 3 or 4 ft from my listening position in a space that has been partially treated with isolation pads. For audio, I compared my experience with KRK Rokit 5s, and Behringer MS 600s. ... show more

  • Destroyed by Micca RB42
Size: 4in Color: Matte White
The media could not be loaded. 3.5/5 They come with a USB-C to C cable, but I was able to use a USB-C to USB-A cable to connect them to my PC (Windows 10) and they sound a little louder than using RCA cable. Plenty of volume for its size, I use them in a small room and I can't imagine anyone needing more volume on a desk, unless you use them in a large room. These speakers have some satisfactory bass for nearfield listening (but NEVER the 40hz they advertise, for this you need a subwoofer). These don't sound bad if you are not so picky, but as I was not very satisfied I decided to venture trying passive speakers + amplifier, now I have the Micca RB42 and believe me, the sound is superior, you will notice it immediately, all frequencies are heard better; lows, mids and highs, and the sound is more natural because it is not with DSP like these powered speakers. The Bluetooth works excellent with both my Samsung phone and my LG television, and I don't notice a difference in volume or sound quality. The only drawback was that when I connected it via Bluetooth, my TV does not allow to control the volume with the TV remote control, which I can do when I connect my JBL Charge speaker without any problem. The “bass boost” button, which adds a little noticeable bass and a little more volume, you have to know that there is no way to know if the option is enabled or disabled, you have to judge just by your ears. ... show more
