  • Great comfort, great fit, amazing traction, great value.
Bought these Sept. 11, 2018 Review Jan. 11, 2019 Average 10k steps daily on these boots. These have been used for hiking and everyday use (mostly hiking). I'm 330 pounds Overall great boot, lightweight and comfortable out of the box. Considering my weight and the hundreds of thousands of steps I have taken in these, , I would say they are worth it. These pictures where after i had the boots submerged thruout a hike and the back of the boot barely starter to give way today (same with the toe). Overall good quality boot that grips amazing on all surfaces wet or dry. Update 2/23/19 Waterproofing i dont think held up, i went for a wet/dry hike today and they got my feet all wet. Hard to tell if its the liner or the boot being to short. Overall im still satisfied.. Update Aug 13th 2019. These are finally being replaced. Not bad consodering the extra wear i usually put on my shoes. Still satisfied overall. Update 9/16/19 one year later and these boots have been replaced with same ones. These boots are very comfy even if your a bigger guy. ... show more

  • A great all around light duty boot.
This is one of the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever worn. I wore Danner boots when I was a security policeman in the Air Force. Being on one's feet 12 to 14 hours a day makes good footwear essential and Danners have always been a favorite of mine. This boot continues that tradition. They have very grippy sole which makes walking on snow and ice less worrisome than I normally would be. They fit snug (10.5) but are not tight and uncomfortable in the least. I also like the low key look of the boot. To many hiking boots are to flashy for my taste and this look suits me just fine. I plan to use these a general everyday shoe for work and a summer walking shoe. I'm sure the water repellent capabilities are probably top notch but I don't have much experience with this sort of material and am not sure how to waterproof them without destroying the material. I can highly recommend this boot for light duty as they are comfortable, light and, as a Danner product, should hold up quite well overtime. ... show more

  • Comfortable. Very grippy. Runs large
These Danner boots are stylish, comfortable, and lightweight. They don't lie about the "Mega grip" soles. These Vibram soles are SUPER grippy. The boots out of the box aren't quite as comfortable as a pair of running shoes and they seem to require a little more break in than the Danner Jag boots I also own. However after you wear them a few times they are super comfortable. I also have a pair of Danner Jag boots, which per the Danner website use the same last as these boots. Based upon this information I think these Mountain 600s are kind of large. The Jag boots are size 10.5 D and with my normal socks I have a little bit of wiggle room in the Jag boots. Since nowhere local to me carries the Mountain 600, I ordered size 11, 10.5 and 10 to test then out. Typically I wear a size 11 in boots with 11.5 or 10.5 being the outlier. Surprisingly the 10 fit the best In this Mountain 600 boot. Based upon this information, I would say to order a half size down unless you intend to wear REALLY thick socks. ... show more

  • Super durable and cute!
I think they are true to size - Slightly larger than my normal shoes, which I believe is quite common across all hiking boots. My feet are wide anyways, and I wear the boots with thick socks - problem solved. You can always wear double socks, too. The boots itself is quite comfortable, and durable. And they look great! Lots of breathability and waterproofness. This was my first pair of low-cut hiking shoes (normally wear mid- or high-cut), and I'm very happy to have gotten it. So perfect and cute for day hiking. I wouldn't recommend this for hikes in rocky terrain; otherwise, go for it! ... show more

  • Comfortable, Attractive, Functional
The Danner Mountain 600 4.5 Hiking Boots are among the most comfortable shoes of any kind that I have ever worn. They required no break-in time at all. I didn't buy these for heavy-duty hiking Rather, I got them for taking long walks with my dog over all kinds of terrain: pavement, flat land, hills, and woods. They are light-weight but still give my trick ankle the support it needs. As I said, they are comfortable--so comfortable that I'm hesitant to take them off when we get home. Thus far, they are waterproof and keep my feet dry. I have already worn them in hot weather and my feet were not uncomfortably warm. I usually wear a size 9 1/2 or 10. I bought the Danners in a size 9 and they fit as if they were made for me. I'll have to see how well, and for how long, they hold up to daily use, but I would certainly recommend them and will be strongly inclined to buy another pair. I only hope the sequel will be as good as the original. ... show more

  • Blair says this boot is so good that I ordered a second pair as a reserve
While this review is posted in the name of Margaret, it's actually submitted by Margaret's husband Blair Wood. Blair says this boot is so good that I ordered a second pair as a reserve. I wear a size 9 1/2 D but often have a problem because of the longer than normal big toe on my right foot. This boot is longer and wider than the usual 9 1/2 D and accommodates the toe without any jamming when hiking downhill. I compensate for the width by using a heavier sock. I do a lot of hiking in the red rock desert around Moab, UT and the very flexible vibram sole provides an excellent grip on the slick rock while moving efficiently in sand and gravel. The boot is both light and well constructed and shows no wear after lots of vigorous hiking. I should note that I originally purchased the boot because it features a vibram sole without a heel. As I get older, I have begun to catch the heel on my boots when hiking on rough rock causing me to trip. This boot entirely resolves that problem while providing very stable and comfortable footing. ... show more
