  • OK
Size: 3 lbs
Anchor is an anchor. Nothing fancy. The collar seems a bit loose and looks like it might occasionally fail to hols the prongs open or closed but so far ok.

  • This thing sinks
Size: 3 lbs
It is heavy, well made, reasonably priced... Going to use it with my fishing kayak and it looks like it will do the trick. I'm happy with it. Packaged well

  • Great for anchoring drunkards, not great for climbing buildings...probably
Size: 3 lbs
Finally got the chance to use this out on the water! My wife and I go floating out on a small lake near our property. Sometimes alone and sometimes with friends. I figured this anchor would be great to position us out in the middle of the lake where we could relax for hours on end. The anchor itself is small but obviously weights 3-pounds so it has some heft. When collapsed the metal nut like piece fold down on top of the prongs to keep them in place and when opened the nut can slide down to keep the prongs spread. While out on the lake it started with 4 of us, a combined weight of probably 600-700 pounds and the anchor kept us locked in firm. Then some more people joined making it 6 of us and probably 1100-1200 pounds combined and it still held firm, mind you this is a pretty soft lake bed as well. Then we had more people join.. at this point we were up to 10 people and 7 different floats all anchored around this one small 3 pound anchor. The combined weight at the height of our first day using this thing had to be closer to 2,000 pounds and this thing still held us relatively in place. I suspect we slipped a bit closer to shore but it was hardly noticeable. I couldn't be happier with a purchase and I highly recommend this for anyone floating or kayaking! It is sturdy and apparently stronger than suspected! ... show more

  • The differences between 1.5 and 3 pound anchors.
Size: 1.5 lbs
Bought 2 of the 1.5-pound anchors for our 10-foot kayaks. Nice and small but in a moderate current these don't hold well. Even if the anchors dig into sand or mud the kayak can still get pushed. It'll be a slow drift but the point of an anchor is to hold in place. I'm wishing I bought the 3-pound version now. However, in light to no current, these are great. Very small and light. Watch out for the hardware coming off at the top of the anchor though. Last kayak trip we went on the screw backed out and I almost lost my anchor. See pictures of what I mean. Best to tighten that screw before each use or maybe removed that item altogether and tie your rope to the anchor directly. UPDATE Bought the 3-pound anchor. It's much larger and should solve all my problems with my 10-foot kayak getting dragged around on moderate current. The updated pics should both anchors side-by-side. Huge difference but if you don't mind the extra bulk and weight, I think it's worth it. ... show more

  • Perfect to keep an inflatable raft/paddle board/kayak in place in water with little to no current
Size: 1.5 lbs
I needed an anchor to tie onto a 18 foot foam Aqua Lily Pad to keep it from floating downstream in the river/lake behind our house. The river has a slow-moving current so the anchor didn't need to be that big and the 1.5 pound version of this anchor worked perfectly. I've also used this anchor on my kayak and paddle board with very satisfactory results. If you're getting an anchor to use anywhere with a decent current or you're looking to anchor any watercraft with a decent bit of weight to it, then I would suggest getting a heavier version. The anchor's top where the loop is to tie off a rope wasn't as pictured on Amazon's website so I'm including my own pictures here. It's a detached loop connected with a metal pin but it's sturdy and I haven't had any issues with the connection becoming loose. ... show more

  • Only option there is.
Size: 3 lbs
Newbie at kayaking, but not at boating. I knew I needed anchors and these are the only offerings there are, so , they work great, but nothing else to compare it too. They fit nice in the rod holders bey seat (tube style) and I installed two anchor trolly's, one on each side of the boat.I fly fish and I know I need to be able to stay put no matter what direction the wind comes from wile I hold a line to shore/weed line. These do the trick in the 3# version, but you have to let out enough rope for two tines to dig in first, otherwise the wind can blow the anchor with only the flater bottom touching the surface of the lake bottom. One trick is to use a light weight zip strip to make a loop for your anchor rope to pass thru and clip it to the anchor bottom where there is a hole for rope or clips. Then if you get it caught on some thing, you jerk the rope harded enough to break the zip strip and the tines come from free. ... show more

  • Purchased for Kayak
Size: 1.5 lbs
Before using this 1.5# anchor I suggest doing a close review of construction to understand how to use and the weak point. I read reviews before deciding to purchase this model and found some reviews were having problems because they apparently did not understand how this anchor works and that it locks both open and closed. The major concern that I had with the construction of this anchor is with the D-ring that you attach your rope/cable to. The D-ring is the weak point and I could see users losing their anchor if the bolt holding the D-ring wasn't made more secure. To solve this problem I used a drop of an automotive thread lock on the bolt to prevent this from coming apart after a few uses. I have used this anchor to keep my kayak in place when I have been fishing and I am very pleased with how well the anchor holds in both muddy and sandy bottoms in windy conditions. ... show more

  • Works well enough
Size: 3 lbs
I bought this as a low profile light weight alternative to my heavier steel anchor that I rarely use. I have a 12' aluminum boat and a kayak and wanted something that would easily fit in my fishing bag and would work for either boat. It does work well enough. However, this last season I tried using it with my 12' aluminum boat in a slow river with a muddy bottom and it wouldn't grab the bottom. I found I would drift quite a ways downriver before it'd stick on something and hold. For lakes it seems to work just fine though. I don't anchor that often, so works for me. ... show more
