First of all, this isn't a coat coat. It's not heavy for outdoors wintertime at all. This is a good option to wear over a formal outfit though in fall. I wore it to a wedding to have something bc it's October and the day was 72 but by 8 it was 60. It worked fine for in and out of venue, travel and pictures but there's no way I'm grabbing it as my coat for daily use. It's long and seems to be a good quality.
