My wife and I purchased this microwave 11 months ago while moving to our current apartment. We were looking for a non-expensive microwave, just to get the job done. After looking for days, my wife came up with this item. Pros: - Damn powerful! Can’t count the amount of hot chocolate / spaghetti sauce / applesauce / soup explosions due to my habit of using cheap microwaves. Milk bowl for hot chocolate : ~2.35 mins. Soup: ~3 mins. Reheat a cup of coffee: ~40 seconds (not boiling) - Love the defrost feature. Unfroze 4 frozen sausages in < 10 minutes. - The design is pretty slick. - Not noisy at all. This is a microwave, of course, there is a background noise when you reheat something, but nothing major. - Easy to clean. I am a pro when it comes to leaving stuff too long in a microwave. The inside is a flat gray metal easy to clean, nothing fancy. - You can choose between English and French labels for the control panel. You have two different stickers; super useful for us since we have friends/family coming over. Cons: - It’s sometimes difficult to see inside (hence the hot chocolate explosion :)) due to the "black dotted" window. - My wife finds this microwave bulky. What can you really go on about in a microwave? I hope this is helpful to others who are considering this microwave to purchase. It's the first new microwave I have purchased in close to 30 years. My old one still worked fine but the bottom was starting to rust out and I was a little nervous that the waves were leaking out and exposing my family to possible harmful microwaves. So, since you really can buy pretty much anything on Amazon.com and since I have a Prime membership I began shopping around for a new mid-size microwave that matched my other stainless appliances, was reasonable priced and had at least 1000 watts of power. This one came highly recommended by most of the previous reviewers, so I thought I would try it out. I ordered it, it arrived two days later, was easy to set up and use. It runs nice and quiet. It lets me know when my food is done without being obnoxiously loud. I am doing one of those diets with all prepackaged foods that need to be microwaved, and so far this works perfectly for all my meals. The display is nice and bright, easy to read. The defrost function also works well. Hopefully this one will last as long as the last one I had. I purchased the 1.1 cu foot side in stainless steel. The stainless steel is all around the unit, not just on the front like some models which was a nice plus. Even on the inside!! I don't do a lot of microwave cooking. We mostly use it for reheating food, frozen meals, defrosting, stuff like that. The occasional bag of popcorn. So I'm not really sure what others are looking for in a microwave. But if your use is similar to mine, this is a great microwave and the price was around 1/2 of what other similar models were charging. I am very happy with my purchase so far. ... show more

    • Highly recommended ... BUT older model
Well, it's happened again. All too often, I set out to review a really neat item, & this comes up: "NO LONGER AVAILABLE". This is the case w/ the Danby DMW111KPSSDD 1000 watter. I don't need a new one, & no, my glass hasn't exploded. It's just that after 4 years of hard use, I figured it's about time for a report. The Danby is (or was??) the best buy in microwave ovens, & I've had several different brands / models to compare. One word of warning: If u leave the unit outside in the cold all night (as i did when renovating), don't expect it to work right away. Just leave it plugged in 'till it reaches room temp, & it should work fine. Also, i once spotted a cockroach disappearing into the side vent. I found the cover comes off easy w/ a security torx wrench. A little 'roach spray sent it to it's maker. I hope the company works out any problems w/ the new models. ... show more

It fits perfectly under my cabinets - the measurements given by everyone are accurate! I was terrified this would blow the ancient fuses on my already electrically overtaxed retro apartment, but it runs with just a small dimming of lights. WHEW. It heats nicely and is quite spacious. The only annoying thing is that start/stop are the same button, but "cancel" is a tiny button near the top of the panel. So often I go to clear the screen from leftover time and end up starting the darn thing again. I am used to cancel/stop being the same button! I'll reprogram myself. In the meantime, I love it. Side note: There is a cardboard-y thing stuck to the side of the microwave which is not mentioned in the other reviews or in the manual - LEAVE IT THERE. If you go to the manufacturer's website, you can find out it's a mica panel to protect a vent. It's tempting to toss it because it looks out of place with the rest of the shiny chrome, but just leave it. ... show more
