For the price it works. 4x is a nice range for the 22lr. Easy to make 25-50YD shots with this scope. It holds zero even after being banged around. Would I take this thing to combat? Maybe no. Would I take this thing to the range for fun? YES BUY THIS AND SAVE MONEY FOR AMMO.

The question is... does this need a 5 star rating because it's a pretty good $40 scope or a 2 star rating because it's really not that good????? If all you have is 40 bucks then go for it! If you expect a bit more then save your pennies and get something better. Clarity is pretty good. Not a fan of the fixed 4X. FOV sucks. About 30 days later I get an email from Amazon/Seller for this scope who offered me a full refund because I wasn't thrilled with the scope. Wow!     • Bargain Scope with just the basics you need for a 22 LR

I have a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 Sport .22 LR. Mainly used for plinking in the back yard and have been pretty much just iron sights up to about 50 yards. This might be what I need if I feel like taking on the coyotes that are pestering all of the neighborhood chicken coops. (unless it's bob cats' but pretty sure we hear yelping every night down the creek bed.) + This is solid aluminum. Super light and easy to install on the rail. + I know it says 400Y, but I doubt I would shoot beyond 150 with a 22LR. It does easily focus 400, but I don't think I'd ever be shooting that far. For 150 Yards this is way more than adequate. + The lens covers are easy to use and not in the way. I found it easy to manipulate in shooting position. + Sighting/Zeroing it in at 150 was super easy. The adjustments out of the box I had to make were minor. I don't know if they do something before hand but I thought that was great. My groupings could be better, but that's more my bad technique than the fault of the scope For what I needed this is a great bargain scope. I feel I can hit my target now at 3x my old distance, which just might save a few chickens. ... show more
