Wish this came with straps to hang it. It is not long enough to add knots like some climbing ropes/gymnasium ropes have for children. Purchased for kids to climb-old school like the 80's gym teachers had us do.

We purchased this climbing rope for in our garage. The 18' length rope was easy to install with a very large loop at one end. If you do buy one for climbing maybe add 1' to what you think you need, adding a knot to the bottom for the climber on a rope this thickness will eat up about 1'. We wear gloves just so if we slide we will not burn our hands but the rope is easy to grip if you have the hand strength and the taped end and attachment end should not fray ever. ... show more

Rope is great. Came on time and as described. One thing to note is the rope is a PLASTIC like material (PolyDac). The two downfalls with this is (1) the rope is STIFF and DOES NOT bend (Can be a pro/con, depending on your preference). 2) If you are unaware of what PolyDac feels like, it can be a little slippery if your hands are wet (hence the 4/5 stars) . I am very pleased with the construction. The rope ends are nicely sealed to prevent fraying and the loop attachment has clean welds. While there is no advertised load rating, I am confident in saying for my data-point sample, the load is not limited by anything other than the strength of the materials for the steel and Polyester – it will hold easily any person. I picked Polyester dacron due to weather resistance (although I have it indoors) and because it is easy on the hands in comparison to natural manila fiber. The 1.5-inch thickness is definitely more challenging than a 1-inch rope, which may be more conducive for children, but this will build more grip strength and my 7-yr old son can climb the 10-foot with using his legs, so it isn’t a show stopper.
