I've been using this for a couple of months worth of markets now and had to wait until I'd experienced several weather states to leave a review. Now that I have, I can say it's a great buy. Sun: This comes with one side wall, which offers ground to ceiling protection if fastened high enough. If sun is a major concern for you, place the wall accordingly/consider getting additional ones. Wind: It's always going to be an issue especially with what is essentially a big ol sail (side wall and/or a large banner sign) in place. With sand bags attached, enough wind gusts have the tendency to leave your legs at a slight angle as the wind pushes the structure in one direction. That's obviously not good, so keep an eye on them and when you notice tilting, grab each leg & bag, lift them straight up, and let the structure right itself. If you stay on top of it, you'll minimize tension on the legs. Rain: Looking around at the other people brave/crazy enough to participate in a market during a rainy day, I felt very glad to be under this particular tent. This can hold up to a constant light rain for hours without issue. Occasional drips will be coming down from the center of the canopy, but if everything's on correctly and taut you won't be dealing with pooling and that's the biggest deal. Water trickles off more or less equally spaced around the perimeter. That's what we want! Setup/Takedown: Trivial for one person to do in a couple of minutes. If you are doing it alone, just be sure to find a way to put equal tension on the legs as you go. I love the center lock, it's the most satisfying part of using this thing. I don't really know how other canopies do it, but they should probably be doing it this way. Transportation: The carrying bag is decent, with the big storage compartment coming in handy. There are two plastic plugs that fit into sockets on the legs keeping the bag from coming off as it's lifted up - the stitching holding those plugs broke after two uses so don't rely on carrying this thing from the top handle. From the video it looks like they're only meant for keeping it on while using the wheels, which makes sense but we all know you're going to be yanking this thing out of your vehicle regularly using the top handle. I sell my handmade soap and body products at three farmer's markets weekly. My products are sensitive to heat and light and I was struggling with the lack of heat protection with my previous canopy. I'm so glad I finally took the leap and bought this canopy. The vent at the top allows hot air to escape and the silver lining with UV and SPF protection makes a huge difference in the amount of heat that gets trapped under the canopy. It's been a lot easier to stand the hot summer days at farmer's markets because of that. And this canopy is soooo easy to put up by myself. I just pull the legs apart, climb under and push on the center piece and it pops into place with one little push. It's a little heavier than my previous canopy (which means it will stay put on breezy days), but it's more compact and easily zips into the storage bag. Plus it has wheels to wheel it to my car and handles to help me hoist it into the back of my car. It also came with empty weight bags (I just need the sand) and one silver-lined wall that gives additional heat protection. The canopy seems sturdy enough. I've already used it four times. The shock cord in the pair of 20 foot aluminum poles for our well used Kelty dome beach canopy finally gave out. Setting this up and staying up in the wind had finally become a difficult chore. I started to search for similar tension system replacements, but the ones I found had functional issues, especially if not facing into the wind. I had seen these truss canopies at the beach for years but never thought much about them. They seemed unwieldy and heavy. Any way I decided to give them a try and chose the Crown Shades. I'm glad I did. Pros: 1. I had never raised one of these before and it was so quick and stupid easy. No threading of shock cord poles thru sleeves as the fly canopy flies all over in the wind like a kite. Open pop-up partially, engage the center lock mechanism and boom its up. Then just raise the legs as needed. 2. One reason its so fast to set up is after first use it can be collapsed and stowed with the canopy on! 3. No collection of bags for separate parts. Everything needed fits in the provided protective cover and attached accessory pouch. 4. The protective cover is legit. So often on these products the carry bag is a throw away. This one is made of sturdy material, has well designed strap closures and sturdy handles. Best part is it actually fits back on the collapsed frame and canopy, easily! The stowed unit has wheels to roll across hard surfaces. 5. Customer service. We bought the 10x10 originally. It was great but we decided it was too big. When we requested a return through Amazon, the seller contacted us directly and was proactive with suggestions, options and accommodating on the return for an 8x8 swap. 6. If needed, all the instructions are permanently attached on cover exterior. 7. Did I mention this was stupid easy to put up, takedown and stow? Cons: 1. None really, we have set it up in the wind but not at the beach yet. 2. I wish the 8x8 had the top vent like the 10x10, but maybe its not needed for the amount fabric area. 3. The tent stakes, though stout, will be worthless in the sand. Amazon has many inexpensive corkscrew in sand stake products. 4. It is heavier than the tent fly systems you might be used to. To me its worth the trade off, especially if using a beach cart. I cant wait to get this to our next family beach vacation. With the one included sidewall it will easily shade all eight of us. ... show more
