First off the instructions that come with it are horrendous! It shows pictures of 6 steps that don’t even match the process for installing, so maybe this will save someone a couple of hours of frustration. 1: the rails are two different lengths for this model (palisade). The longer rail goes in the front and shorter rail in the rear. 2: the mounting arms are directional and marked L and R, but nothing to tell you if that’s left if your facing the car or facing the same direction as the car. Either way make sure you put an L and R on each rail which is not noted anywhere in the directions. 3: there is a small bracket piece that connects the rail to the arm. It isn’t even mentioned in the directions but it’s what threads the bolts. To assemble place this piece inside the rail with the bend on the outside facing down. Then slide the arm over the mounting bracket and line up the holes for all three pieces. You may need to help the bottom plastic piece of the arm over the bend. Thread the bolts but keep them loose so you can adjust the crossbar width to fit. (This step is what caused me an hour of frustration) 4: Dry fit the rails. Adjust the width as needed. Tight the arm clamps to the vehicles side rail by alternating sides until they’re both tight. The entirety of the contents of the roof rack staying in place is pretty much dependent on these clamps holding onto a little flared lip on the vehicles side rails. I blame Hyundai for this one, they clearly didn’t consider the fact that a large amount of their buyers would want to apply the “utility” aspect of SUV and carry stuff with them. But either way, that’s all that’s holding the crossbars to your vehicle, a clamp and a small flared lip. So make sure they’re sitting tight under the lip or you’ll probably lose everything somewhere on the highway. 5: Tighten the bolts holding the rail assembly and replace the weather strip. 6: Install the plastic locking covers. As far as quality goes, they’re what you expect for a budget set of rails. The structural components are steel. The covers are plastic. The overall fit was pretty poor and they’re clearly universal parts and not engineered specifically for the dimensions of the Palisade. Like I said in the instructions, the whole mechanism for attaching them to your roof is nothing more than a clamp with a rubber boot that grips a flared piece of your side rail. I don’t have the greatest amount of confidence in it handling any load that creates a lot of wind resistance. The instructions are terrible. There was also no documentation that states anything about weight limits or anything like that. I purchased them for an upcoming trip and plan to keep a set of Allen wrenches in the glove box so I can check and tighten them every time we stop for gas. ... show more

    • This does not fit. It does not tighten in place. Faulty engineering.

Don't buy this product. It does not fit. They want you to pay return shipping cost for an item that will not fit and does not work. It I their faulty engineering causing the issue. The return is totally due to crummy manufacturing not simply a dislike of the item.

The bars feel sturdy enough but I feel a little uneasy about the piece that extends the bars out. Lack of instructions not a big deal but I feel that a legitimate product would want specific instructions to be included. I don't like the design, but it's more out of necessity due to the poor design of roof rails on some vehicles, like the Palisade. I put them on and rode around town for a while with no load. I'll find out in a few weeks if the grip they hold is tight enough for prolonged highway travel ... show more
