  • A must-have for mechanics, and people who drop things alot...
Size: 2 piece
First off, if you found this review helpful in your decision-making, please click on the helpful button so this review may help others in their decision-making process. Very good set of pliers from a reputable brand (Crescent). They have a very heavy-duty feel to them and gives the impression that it could withstand alot of punishment. Both pliers teeth interlock at the end when closing, allowing for a firm grasp on the item you are attempting to retrieve. Compound-joint gives for a more compact tool, giving you access to tight spots that single-joint pliers cant. This feature allows you to open the jaws as wide as a normal plier, but with less handle-spread than your single-joint pliers, which makes this perfect to have for those "oops" moments when a bolt drops near the engine of an automobile, for lack of a better example. Handle feels more like a rubber material and will leave stains and marks, so be forewarned. Overall, very happy with this product and I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Kinda weak
Size: 2 piece
I needed to change some spark plugs, but the 5/8 spark plug socket grabbed too tightly and the extension pulled off, leaving the socket on the plug. I remembered that I have these long needle nosers, and when I tried to use them, they just slipped off over and over no-matter how hard I squeezed. I tried squeezing them outside of the cylinder just to look them over, and they have so much flex they'll never get any strong grip. These are good for grabbing loose items in hard to reach places, but they're terrible for actually getting a good grip on something that you need to apply some force on. ... show more

  • Well made, solves the problem of long reach
Size: 2 piece
Needed a long reach set of pliers that were as compact as possible when opened. The longer the plier without the double hinge requires a large amount of space to open, this design allows for full opening of the jaws while maintaining a tight footprint. Very well made and tight with not extra movement in the hinges. Very high value tool for those times where you need a strong set of jaws deep into a restrictive area. Very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • A Quality tool form Crescent and Amazon
Size: 2 piece
I removed and cleaned the flame sensors in my furnace the other day. There was one located under the gas burner that was hard to reinstall. I went looking for a better way to install it and came across this tool. I looked at Harbor Freight and MAC tools. The tool from Mac Was about 1 pound and cost about $50.00 each. For my application I could not justify that price. Harbor freight did not offer this tool with the 45 degree bend, which I thought might also be useful. When I compared the price between Harbor Freight with 1 tool for $13.99 and Crescent with 2 tools for about $25.00 there was virtually no difference so I ordered the 2 tools from Crescent and Amazon. ... show more

  • Questionable quality and durability
Size: 2 piece
Meh... you get what you pay for, if you are weekend warrior like me this will get the job done, if you are a full time mechanic then look elsewhere. I will be getting a replacement since one of the pliers is too stiff for my liking. The handles are great, the steel construction is questionable, it doesn't look straight, it has uneven surfaces and it won't completely close flush all around. Update: So I just received the replacement pliers and they have the same issues, the straight nose pliers are very stiff and cannot be operated with just one hand. I am returning it again and look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Pliers very stiff to open/close
Size: 2 piece
Pliers feel substantial and of good quality as noted in other reviews. In my case both pliers were extremely stiff to open and close, requiring substantial effort from both hands, which in my opinion negates the point of having pliers designed to access tight locations. I spent a couple of hours working the pliers by oiling and continuous opening and closing, which helped but the pliers still got stuck fully open and were very resistant to movement, even with both hands. I'm shipping them back and will try and locate locally where I can test the pliers out prior to purchase. ... show more

  • As advertised
Size: 1 piece
I have a colleague with a full set of Snap-On tools in his massive tool box that must have cost him several grand. He has too many of these to count. But this one does just as good. Easy action, plenty of torque to hand grasp ratio. works like a charm... not as expensive as Snap-On.. just keep it clean, and oil it to keep it from rusting. The quality of steel is not as good as Snap-on. But with a little preventive care, keep your tools oiled, and clean, they will last just as long as the high dollar tools. ... show more

  • Much better than Harbor Freight
Size: 2 piece
I was trying to reach and squeeze a hose clamp buried deep in an engine compartment with some long reach pliers from Harbor Freight, but rather than squeeze the clamp the pliers would just flex. These from Crescent did the job with no issues.
