    • I don't think people understand what this is for...
It's getting a lot of mixed reviews, some loving it and some not so much. Products like this are very personal and subjective. But I think some folks are confusing this matte hair paste for other products and then don't like it because it's not what they're used to because it's not super gooey, not shiny, or doesn't have enough hold. What I learned is that this type of product is for people with fine hair, thinning hair, etc., so the first thing I learned from professional barber Matty Conrad is that when you have fine or thinning hair you don't want a lot of weight or water sagging your hair down. Gels, pomades, and the like have higher hold but also weigh your hair down making it appear like you have less hair. So the function of this type of product is supposed to be light and dry. So less is more in the sense that you don't want a ton of product in your hair weighing your hair down, making it appear stringy, saggy, or limp. Another thing is that hold is dependant on hair length, and so he recommends that folks with thinning or fine hair keep hair length between 3 to 5 inches. I actually bought this because his Victory brand super dry was out of stock and this seemed like a good comparison. I will say that I don't blow dry my hair personally, but he recommends salt sprays, matte dry pastes, and blow drying your hair and getting a cut that suits your hair type. All this to say, I think some people are not liking this product because it's not what they're accustomed to. But what they're accustomed to is usually made for thicker hair types. So it's all about maximizing your specific hair type. Also, it doesn't go into wet hair or on wet hands as well as others products. I've come to see this is because super dry matte pastes are made for dry to mostly dry hair. When used correctly I find it gives me the texture and hold I need, and smells clean and refreshing. Not trying to put folks down or anything, but I hate to see bad reviews because people are not up to speed on this sort of thing. Anyway, I'll be trying Victory super dry when it's back in stock, but in the meantime this is fantastic stuff. Just that you have to understand what's it's intended to do and how to use it just right! Hey I had to learn all this too! If you go to Matty Conrad's YouTube channel there's a video on fine and thinning hair that really helped me to understand how to maximize my own personal haircare needs.     • Effective for thin hair
Works great for my thin hair, this cream doesn’t weigh my hair down, not greasy, It gives my hair volume with the use of other volumizing products. It’s not shiny but doesn’t give your hair the dry effect, it’s rather balanced. The smell of the cream is lovely, not too strong & masculine.

    • Works to add volume!
I have medium length hair and typically use paste or pomade. I like low shine, medium hold that does not look like I am wearing "product". I also like my hair to feel natural and not stiff. This paste does a good job on all accounts. I had to play around with how much to use. The directions say to use a "nickel" sized amount, however I found that much product makes my hair feel too stiff. I use about a dime sized amount while my hair is damp, and it works great. It does work to "thicken" your hair, if your hair style permits. I part my hair to the side and then back and it does add some lift. It has a very light, almost unnoticeable scent. It is easy to wash out. It is priced competitively compared to other pastes and pomades. I like this and would recommend it! ... show more

    • Doesn't have high hold, somewhat oily feel, not a replacement for Old Spice Forge Putty
Tried this product to replace my Old Spice Forge Putty and this did not work at all the same way as the Forge Putty. This paste is much thicker than the Forge Putty, making this product very hard to spread through your fingers & then your hair. This is a very tacky product but has an okay smell, somewhat perfumey and not my favorite but not super strong & bad smelling like so many other products in my opinion. This product did spread through my thin strands/thick volume hair, surprisingly, but it didn't have as strong of a hold as the Forge Putty and would become loose if it was a windy day or I needed to bend over during the day a lot & rework my hair. I would not recommend this product for people wanting a high hold, maleable product like the Old Spice Forge Putty. ... show more

    • Just didn't work on my fine hair
I had high hopes for this product, but it just didn't work for me. On my hair (I only used a small amount) it just made my hair too soft and greasy feeling. Every time I touched my hair I felt like I need to wash my hands because of the oily feeling. Just not what I expected at all based on the description. I wasn't too crazy about the scent either ... it's not terrible, but just not a particular scent that I like. It was priced right and you do get a lot for the money (compared to some other brands) but this one just isn't something that I see myself using. ... show more
