  • Good once set up but with quality control issues
The final product seems to be working well for my intended use which is basically, allowing me to run my cutter/engraver inside without the fume problem. I'm mostly cutting paper and cutting/engraving 1/4in wood so I'm not as concerned about the fumes as I would be if I were dealing with other materials but even with that, doing this stuff indoors certainly leaves an impression and doing it anywhere else presents challenges with the need for a tethered computer. This really does seem to help with that quite a bit. I was expecting a complete enclosure like the ones they sell for their printers but this is actually more of a hood. There is no bottom and it just sits over your cutter. This is good since it means setting everything up and putting it all away when you don't have a full-time dedicated space is easier but it also means you're not dealing with a completely sealed off space, either. Just the same, it does a pretty good job. Having complete protection from the laser is also nice in a place where a curios pet or two might need to be locked away for the safety of their eyes. The fan which has a USB plug works when plugged into a USB adapter and does draw the fumes out but I think a stronger one would have been more effective. I might look at some sort of upgrade for that in the future. Having said all of that, there were some problems with what came in my order which resulted in me having to order twice. The first box was missing one of the corner pieces needed for assembly. Since I had things out of the box and unwrapped already, I decided initially just use the corner piece from the new box and ship the rest of that back for the replacement but upon putting the hood on, I noticed that three of the places where the velcro pieces were sewn were crooked and backwards meaning they'd have to be twisted around in order to attach like they should. I took the one out of the new box to see if it was better and it was but despite being sealed in plastic, it had some sort of orange-white flaky stuff on the outside. I decided to go with that one and all it took was a damp cloth to remove that stuff but it's weird it was on it like that. When going to attach the fan, I realized that was also missing from the fist box even though there was a plastic flange for the other side for it to screw into along with the ventilation tube and clamp to attach it. In the end, between the two boxes, I was able to piece together one good working hood/tent and it does work pretty well and at about a quarter of the price the more substantial enclosures are going for. I now have a safe way both in terms of fumes and in terms of environmental light to run my cutter/engraver and that ultimately, is what's most important. Assembly wasn't difficult but the instructions leave a little to be desired, just because there are a lot of specific lengths of pieces that need to go together very specific ways and they're represented by numbered bags you open which correlate to really, really tiny numbers printed on a half sheet of paper. My recommendation would be to turn to Youtube for a video of someone putting it together before opening anything inside the box and you should have it done in under 10 minutes. If you start taking pieces out of their numbered bags, you could be in trouble since the pieces themselves aren't labeled. Creality is kind of known for being an affordable hobbyist brand where hobbyist is shorthand for requiring tinkering to work so my experience doesn't exactly shock me but hopefully they get their basic quality control for this pretty simple product figured out and it would be nice if they maybe used a full sheet of paper for the diagrams and instructions on assembly. After the minor headache of reordering, I have what I wanted, though, and it's working great and Amazon makes returns/replacements easy so I didn't worry too much about getting this eventually worked out and I don't think you need to, either. Just be aware that it might not be you if you run into an initial problem. ... show more

  • Make sure you know what you are getting
This is well built but it has no bottom, that was not obvious to me when I purchased it I grabbed it because it was the cheapest. You can make it work but for smoke you want an enclosure

  • I can breathe again!
I am using this and a 80mm to 4" printed adapter I quickly designed to connect this to my Dust Collection system (vented to exterior when doing laser work) that moves ~1500CFM of air. This tent solution is amazing for the price. The included fan is not able to do anything like that, so if expecting to use only what was supplied, be prepared to have smoke billowing out of anywhere the cover has an opening. My suggestion is to use it somewhere else that fan can be useful, it clearly is underpowered for the task of removing smoke and toxins while the laser is running. ... show more

  • Expected more
Expected more from how it was shown in the product photos and the $73 price. Shown in the photo I'm attaching to this review there are these white specks on the outer cover that I couldn't remove. The plastic frame is rather fragile, I almost snapped a joint piece when joining two bar pieces together. One of the screws for attaching the exhaust fan to the cover is a defective screw either from the threads being damaged or the incorrect screw. The provided screw and nut would not fasten together so I will have to go out to a hardware store and find a replacement. I don't recall the product description mentioning that the exhaust fan has a usb-A connection without a power block so you have to provide one yourself and no on/off switch so it's plug in and remove to power on/off. I want to return it and buy a different one but I also don't want to go through the trouble of disassembling and trying to repackage everything into the small box. ... show more

  • Construction confusion
Quality is very nice. Light weight and has a nice window and a large accessible zippered flap. What is the downside to me was a lack of proper parts identification related to the drawings. There are 237 rods in 87 different lengths to put a14 sided frame together. Give or take. I got there eventually but it was a challenge. I am happy with the results overall. ... show more

  • The laser enclosure is sort of junk!
The laser enclosure is sort of junk! I really wish I was writing a great review right now, but its sort of like who ever made it never even tested it. 1) I am not sure how they could have made the door any beetter, but they sure couldnt have made it worse. If you open it more than 1/2 way it just drops in the center of the laser. 2) The exhaust port is 3". Not a huge deal, guessing most people who own this also have a 3d printer and can make a 4" adapter, but it should have come with a 4" exhaust port as that is the standard. 3) This is the really big problem with the enclosure, the one you should really worry about! There is no bottom! That means both smoke and laser light can escape. Much less than using nothing, but it does still small. These sort of enclosures should be made much more like regular 3d printer enclosures. They 100% need a bottom. This is better than nothing, but only slightly better. ... show more
