This is a very strong pruner, in that, one could easily cut a finger off. It is definitely sharp and powerful. I feel there should be some kind of a double safety on the trigger. I have been using the Worx power pruner for some time but, despite all it's positives, it doesn't have the power to get through more than one inch branches. This Craftsman can power through those branches with ease. While it's rated to be able to handle up to 1.25 inch branches, I've gotten through larger ones without a problem. Both the jaw clamping strength and the blade heft are both excellent. The downside to this extra power is extra weight. This is a fairly heavy trimmer compared with the Worx (or similar ones). The upright style is also less maneuverable than the inline design of the Worx. But, when you need to get through larger or tougher branches, this gets the job done. The overall build quality feels very good. The battery latches in with a nice solid click. Battery life has been excellent -- I can use it for a full afternoon of pruning and it only drops from 3 bars to 2 of battery life. My only quibble about the performance is that you can't lock the jaws shut when you power it off. I prefer to store clippers, be they powered or manual, with the jaws closed. On this one I can't. While there are some tradeoffs to the increased power, this has been performing very well for me. Five stars. ... show more

This is an excellent tool. It works exactly as advertised. It has a lot of cutting power and it’s very useful trimming bushes in tight places. The battery seems to have the power for several hundred cuts. I have never had to stop using it because the battery was dead. The only negative comment I would have to say about this is that the little safety lever that prevents the trigger being pulled is awkward to use. That is a small price to pay for the convenience of using this tool. I would highly recommend it. ... show more

I bought this for my wife who prunes a lot, but complains how hard it is getting to do. This Craftsman 20V MAX cordless pruner has solved that problems. She thinks it is great! We took off a branch that was probably about 1 1/8 in diameter. It took a couple of chomps, but it did it. It is heavy enough that she has to use two hands to hold it up after a few cuts, and that is probably a good thing, because then all 10 fingers are accounted for! Safety of course, is not a big feature of a cordless pruner. I'm sure you could take some fingers off quite easily. I told her "every time you press the trigger... know where all your fingers are!" My only two complaints: 1. When you're done... I wish the jaws would close. I have "fixed" this by removing the battery when the jaw is closed. It then remains shut. 2. I wish it was easier to unseat the battery. Not a big deal... just a desire. 3. Got a BIG 3rd complaint... the cutting blade has gotten big nicks in it, and we've only been cutting twigs (up to about 1/2 inch), and rose bushes with it. Makes me question the hardness of the cutting blade. This has not happened with manual cutters... except with years and years of use. ... show more

Not only does it zip through branches like a hot knife through butter, but it also keeps going and going - the Energizer Bunny's got nothing on this battery life.
