The original "Cracker" starring Robbie Coltrane, as Dr. Eddie 'Fitz' Fitzgerald the anti-hero criminal psychologist. A chain-smoking, obese alcoholic addicted to gambling and a serial womanizer works with the Greater Manchester police solving crimes that were the precursor to psychologist profiling in the U.K. Coltrane, plays the role so well audiences lauded his role despite the flaws his character. This series was well received in the U.K., and garnered Coltrane three straight British Academy television awards for best actor ('94-'96). Unlike the watered down too commercially driven US copy the original holds it own with other British crime drama's like Silent Witness, and DCI Banks. This series is for adults only in the US, situational lines, and the use of foul language (while common in every day life) may be unsuitable for US viewers with children and over sensitive adults. The US version of Cracker played by Robert Pastorelli is a completely different show and should be seen realistically under a different title.     • Great show with a very flawed hero.
Worth the wait, mailed from England. This show was one of best showcase for many English actors before they became famous. Psychological study of criminal motivations to commit crimes. Robbie Coltrane is incredible as a greatly flawed criminal psychologist. Many unexpected shocks.
