The fishing pools are magnetic and really work like a rod and reel. The fish have tiny magnets so they attach/“get caught” very easily. Even the adults enjoyed catching fish with him. There are a nice variety of fish, they are very colorful, with no rough or sharp edges. He played with these toys all day. At the end of the day, clean up was a breeze. None of the items had holes so that water was trapped inside, so all was simply dried off. No drip dry so nothing was left outside to get stepped on or blown away. Bought these as a replacement of another brand's that had rusted (don't leave them in water for a long period of time... I should've known LOL). There's so many different fish in this set with no repeats! Daughters first fishing set I let her play with it in her pool she loves it lots of different fish to learn as well as colors they float as intended and magnets are okay a but weak on the poles causes a little frustration but let's ve fair she is 1 and a half so she likes the nets and I use the poles she helps me unhook the fish and I tell her what kind it is lots of fun definitely a great buy for the money she loves her fish set points to it every time I tell her she's going outside only reason not 5 stars is design on some fish makes it hard for even a older kiddo to hook up and the plastic is a bit thin my daughter chews on em and they are getting a little beat though I stop her right away all in all great buy folks will buy again when these are too chewed up or damaged color fades a bit but it happens right , she loves this set as do i ... show more

Got these for our 2 1/2 year old nephew. Think they would work for a significant range of developmental stages. I figured the fishing pole might be a little too hard for a kid his age (too much fine motor control), but he did actually use it (in water) with a little help. For kids learning or already able to swim, they could be fun to go retrieve from around the pool. He mostly enjoyed using the included nets to scoop the fishes out of the water from the steps of our pool. Everything floated well. You can easily pull them under the water, then release and they will sort of flutter up to the surface which gives a nice lively effect. The storage bag was super handy and even works as a net to scoop them up from the water when you're done playing. I got the smallest set ("large"), and there was plenty of variety. They are brightly colored, with lots of different animals represented; although not exactly the ones that are pictured. The kid recognized some of the animals, some were new to him, and he definitely had a handful of favorites. Not amazing quality, but it really didn't matter. The fishes each have a small phillips head screw in them which acts as the magnetic anchor; I tightened one that was slightly loose on arrival. Also had to re-tie the worm on the end of the fishing rod that came loose during play. Because of that I would recommend no unsupervised play with these, but we were doing that anyway because water. I took everything out and liked that it came with a pump for the little pool. But I hadn’t even started doing that and the kids were playing nicely learning how to fish and a pole broke immediately. All in all we will keep it because luckily it came with multiple poles & there are tons of little toys to go in the pool to play with. ... show more

THey were super cute and fun but didnt last long! The string on the rod would rip and the plastic things attached to the rod would pop up ! but we just tied a knot and poped the things right on again. They didnt last long! After we just threw it away.

The media could not be loaded. NOT water toys (paint comes off when you rub off any soap suds) I only did it to one toy to test it out based on a review placed recent about this product and can confirm it does wipe away even if you dry it. There was another review stating that the nail which the magnet picks up rusts fast (so it’s best not to use it in water or don’t do it too often.) Packaging did NOT bring the hammer head shark, seahorses, sea shells, turtle, and corals, and much more, just a bunch of repeated fishes in different colors and designs on them. I had requested a replacement and even the new one brought the same things. Photo is very misleading. It does float but again, not suitable for bathe time, paint will rub off. ERY EASILY. It's cheap plastic. Good amount of fishing and you can share with family and friends maybe just 2-4 can play together then take turns. (since I bought the one that comes with two fishing rods and two fishing nets. I believe a pair can play together and the other pair helps catch the fish with their nets and then share and swap. But I was really looking forward to the variety of marine life not just fish but the hammerhead shark would have been nice, turtle, shells, corals, etc. when the heck do you see a duck in the Ocean/Sea water? (Yes I had to say “wtf” in my head to avoid my video be taken down lol) a lot of repeats not enough turtle, hammerhead, shells, and corals like photo advertised. ... show more
