Just bought my second one of these. If you have a large breed dog the roof is great to help them grow into it instead of changing out different size crates as they grow

Our Great Dane isn't huge, but has gotten their feet (toe pad) stuck between the bars at the bottom causing pain and anguish. I can imagine if this would happen while someone wasn't home. We will be going back to flat/square bars on the bottom of the Kennel for our Great Danes. The latches used in this model are also inadequate in my opinion, very flimsy. The pre-drilled holes also weren't in the correct spot, luckily I had a drill on hand to correct this issue, rather than have to disassemble just to send it back. Updated to add: the seller has reached out and refunded a portion of my purchase price. I am still leaving my review because I want people to know the risk until updates are made to the design. But I raised my star rating to average. ... show more

I received this product in about a week after ordering. Be aware, even with Prime, there was a shipping fee due to weight. The box it shipped in was a very lightweight cardboard for something that heavy. The box was punctured, crushed and torn either due to the weight of the contents, mishandling by the carrier, or shipping straps that were overtightened which crushed the contents due to the poor quality cardboard shipping box. Took pictures before opening and after opening. The contents WERE packaged well in regard to small pieces, so no parts were lost. Contact was made with the vendor directly and immediately in California. They took my complaint of a damaged top panel and notified the overseas manufacturer immediately, who then responded through Amazon within 48 hrs. (it was a weekend). We came to what I believe is a fair amount of $$$ credit for me to have the damage repaired on my own vs. them shipping me a new top panel 30 days later from overseas. They were prompt, couteous, open to negotiation and fair. I will still have a damaged product aesthetically, but at least the company agreed to a fair resolution. The crate was 90% assembled out of the box. All the hardware lined up and it went together in about 5-10 minutes. The wheels roll easily and locked well. I agree, unless your dog is quiet in the crate, you would have to put much stronger hinges and door locks on it. These dogs that are chewing through the metal bars and breaking out must be overcrated, bored to death, or some kind of super aggressive breeds! The crate is very sturdy, the construction is quite strong, and a dog chewing through those metal bars has got to be inflicting some severe damage onto itself! I have a 60 lb. yellow lab puppy in the crate who was an escape artist from a normal wire crate. He is well contained in this crate, but I consider him a relatively quiet crate dog. I also believe there is a process to teaching dogs how to crate well. They should feel comfortable, safe, and happy in their crate, coming and going at THEIR desire while you are home so it feels like a safe spot. My lab does this, but has seperation anxiety when I leave, which required a stronger crate. I am gone nearly 12 hours a day. He has toys to occupy him which are specifically geared to alleviate boredom. He is not crated at any other time. I have a dog bed in the crate for comfort so he is up off the metal bars in the floor. Once the top of the crate was repaired, I found this crate quite satisfactory, although it will be a scuffed and scratched fixture which I should not have had to deal with fixing as a new purchase. ... show more

We bought this crate upon recommendation from our dog trainer. We just adopted a young Doberman x Husky mix. He had been in the shelter several times, and as such he had terrible separation anxiety and broke the crate we originally used for him. This crate has been a life changer. Super easy to assemble, and very sturdy. We opted to leave the wheels off, which hasn't posed an issue. I'm not sure what the top opening is for, maybe if you were housing a different type of pet. The locks themselves are nice, even though they seem a little flimsy, they've held up really well. The only thing I don't like is the floor isn't solid, it's a grate floor. We put one of those foam camping pads on it and then put his bed on top. It is expensive, but I think it's well worth the investment. ... show more

This crate is amazing! Just buy it! I have a heavy duty crate from a different company that doesn't have the roof style top that was twice as much as this one, but my girl grew too tall for it. I have an 88 lb German Shepherd who is rather tall. So I had to find her a new one, which I didn't want to do cuz heavy duty crates are really expensive. Then I found this crate with the fantastic price that I thought was too good to be true; there had to be something wrong with it. Nope, nothing wrong with it at all. This crate fits her perfectly. No more ducking when she stands up in her crate. It's the perfect size for her. She wanted to get in her new crate and test it out as soon as I put it together, which was really simple. If you are on the fence about this purchase because it's so inexpensive compared to the other heavy duty crates you've looked at, don't be just buy this crate. Update, the seller didn't have any replacement lids to fix the problem. We did negotiate a partial refund. I will raise this to three stars, as the customer service was good, but overall the door latches are lacking in design, allowing a dog to bend or jiggle them loose. One of the top screws doesn't tighten, causing the lid to be loose and the top latch doesn't latch correctly. The dog opened the top lid which caused wall damage. The latches to close the front and top doors are cheap and have a poor design. Good concept, just needs better quality control and a better latch system. Always weary when I buy stuff online, even when I see good reviews. I have a 100 pound XL bully who was breaking out of his wire crate. I went through a few of them and none of them could really hold him. I’ve had this crate now for a few months and he has not really even attempted to break out. I will say that it took him a few days to even comfortably go in there, as it was a major change for him. The only improvement I would say would be the latches, they are kind of weak… But so far so good… ... show more
