Protected our mattress totally during a move. Was large enough to accommodate size and closes tightly to keep dirt out. Would also use if had to store the mattress for any period of time. 6mm is a good thickness where you don't have to worry about the plastic ripping when moving. Would recommend.

    • Nice, thick plastic--but problematic to close
These mattress bags are made from a thick, waxy plastic that seems likely to be proof against most trouble, and they're a generous size, in case your mattress is thicker or longer or wider than usual. The one problem I ran into is that they don't have any built-in closure (which is fine), but no tape I tried--packing tape, gaffer's tape ... even duct tape!--would stick to them. I'm using them to store a bed in my attic, so ultimately, I just folded the end up and pushed it against a wall, hoping that would be enough to keep out mice. If I were using these to move mattresses, I would find it more of a problem, since I imagine the mattress would tend to slip out of the bag. I can think of a couple of ways to engineer a solution, but I feel like it shouldn't be necessary to engineer a solution to closing a plastic bag! ... show more

This one was (at the time of my purchase) not only cheaper than the competition, but also thicker. And gladly too, because moving a mattress in a bag without ripping the bag can be difficult, but this easily withstood all of my abuse.

    • Didn't leak!
We bagged our mattress and tape open ends in opposite ends. Laid it flat on an open trailer and drove 1400 miles with torrential downpours most of the way. I was totally shocked when we opened it up. The mattress was totally dry!
