  • The last lap desk you need
I previously had a cheap folding metal lap desk to use my laptop in bed. It was never very good. There was no place for my mouse and it was awkward to get in and out of bed once set up. Once I accidentally stepped on it and broke one of the legs, I knew it was time for a replacement. This is the lap desk I didn't know I needed. I took a chance based on reviews and I'm glad I did. It ships in three pieces, two foam side supports and a generous wood work surface. This makes it very easy to set up and take down, though it will take up a fair amount of room when stored. It fits under a bed just fine, though. The vent holes allow plenty of circulation for a gaming laptop, there's plenty of space for a mouse, and the slit at the top right is perfect for your phone or tablet. Most importantly, it sits at a comfortable height that greatly reduces wrist, neck, and arm strain (YMMV depending on your size). ... show more

  • I've been looking for this for years!
The couchmaster is a horribly named ugly monstrosity that I absolutely love. I want to be able to sit with my family at night when I'm playing games on my computer. For this reason I switched to a laptop gaming computer years ago, but have never found a great solution for using it on the couch. Gaming laptops are big heavy beasts. Mine has a big ole cooling fan under it, and then I want a good amount of space to use a mouse next to it. Basic laptop tables just didn't cut it, until I found the couchmaster! This thing is so basic but it's just want I need. You get two big solid foam arm/table rests. Nothing special but they are sturdy and comfy enough. You get a big ole slab of well crafted wood with some vent holes in it. And thats it! foam and wood. But it works great in it's simlicity. Since it's three separate pieces it easily breaks down for storage when not in use and just sits next to the couch. Once you get used to it, it's pretty easy to get in and out of. I think it's way overpriced for what it is. But it's the only thing out there like it. It's well crafted, and it works. I'm happy to pay the premium if it checks those last two boxes. If you want something like I describe above look no further ... show more

  • It’s not the best.
I don’t typically write reviews, but I am going to start with the good and then the BAD! First and foremost this will hold a 17 inch laptop with ease and be comfortable for hours. Along with fitting my large Alienware M17 r5 it allows for full use of your mouse. Shipping was quick and non of the packaging was damaged. I was hoping I could rationalize the price but I honestly can’t after seeing some of the manufacturing defects. When you’re paying over 150 dollars for a lapdesk you expect it to be top notch and absolutely no issues. Well to say the least the fit and finish of this product is horrible!! For instance I paid 30 dollars for a lapdesk that wasn’t freak for gaming and such but I worked. But for 30 dollars the fit and finish was 10 times what the cybot is. I don’t think I will be returning. But I sure hope Nerdytech will do something to make this right. Or at-least drop the price by 60 dollars or more for future buyers. - Edit 03-22-23 I contacted nerdytec customer support and was pleasantly surprised by their great customer service. That made all of my problems with my particular model go away. It was fairly fast response time knowing the time differences. And the customer support agent I spoke too was extremely kind and helpful. The more and more I play on the cybot the better it gets. I love being able to play in bed or on the couch and how cool my laptop stays. If you need the end-all solution to awkward seating, hot laps and laptops, and clanky tv trays look no further. ... show more

  • The Product I Never Knew I Needed
This lap desk is 100% affected by your chosen surface to work on. On a couch or bed, it's great and the cushions add some important utility. In a chair, I'd ignore the cushions and just use the bamboo top. It is HUMONGOUS if you use the two side-cushions. They are helpful, with a couple little pouches (one is velcro-attached, with a shockingly strong adhesive strip to hold it to the couch for the hook-side) to store doodads, cables, etc. There is, of course, a can- or bottle-holder as well. It's an elastic/mesh pocket similar to one on the side of a backpack, so not good for cups. They also have nice leather tops that make them comfy armrests. The side cushions support the desktop and keep it from sliding around, but you will get "trapped" so I'd only use them if you don't plan on getting up for awhile. They also have a very "gamer" aesthetic, with an urban digital camo pattern. The desk surface is a nice black-painted bamboo, with a big cutout under the left-side laptop position for air circulation. This is not meant for lefties, but can be used as such with either some modification, or just thermal compromise. It's large enough to fit a 15" gaming laptop (I use an Acer Triton 500) and a typical hard- or soft-mousepad. It includes one, but I chose to put my own Acer RGB pad on it. There is a nifty little cellphone/tablet slot on the upper right of the workspace that's wide enough for an iPad or 8-10" Android tablet in landscape mode. It is very narrow and shallow though, maybe 1/2" wide and 5/8" deep, so you can't put a phone or tablet with a case there and portrait orientation is a bit wobbly with bigger devices. You can get around this by getting a small gooseneck tablet holder and just clipping that to the desk surface. The tablet slot also has a small passthrough in the middle for a charging cable that is VERY obviously designed for cellphones or iPads. I also found it useful to use some 3M strips to attach a little 5-port USB hub behind the computer space, to make the whole desk a bit like a dock that I could grab my laptop and mouse off of when travelling and lets me leave most of the accessories behind without worrying about misplacing them. Also lets me do nicer cable management with tie-downs so that each time I sit down (or store the bamboo top) everything is neatly packaged and I just need to plug in a USB 3.0 cable to boot everything up.. ... show more

  • Good product as advertised
It's as good as advertised, though I wish there was some good competition for more competitive pricing. Comfortable. Rugged to an extent. Could have an option for more mouse area.
