  • Great Price, Great Performance
At least once per year I need to replace the rear cassette and chain on my electric mountain bike due to the torque involved in a powered bike. The smallest sprockets on the cassette tend to bend since there are only a few of them taking all that torque and the chain stretches for the same reason. To get the chain off you need a chain break tool, really no other way and I have been using the micro chain break I keep in my riding pack which just barely does the job a pain. While this Cotouxker chain break could easily fit in a pack I'm using it as a shop tool and it does a great job. The handle is easy to hold and manipulate and the pin action as it punches through the chain is smooth and precise enough for the job. I really like the attached tension bar that holds the chain in place and it even has an extra pin built into the handle. You really can't beat this chain break for the price! I have also snapped a chain twice in the backwoods (primarily from not changing it out when I should have) and needed a chain break to reattach a shortened chain to get out. If you don't have a one this would be a good tool to carry for easy use although they make much smaller ones. Either way as a pack or shop tool I recommend this chain break for easy chain removal. ... show more

  • A great value for under $7.00!
I worked in the bicycle industry for nearly 20 years when I was younger, have worked on hundreds of bikes, and have repaired and replaced chains numerous, numerous times. I have multiple chain breaker tools as I try to keep one in my shop as well as one in the tube/repair bag I keep on most of my bikes (I've never kept one in my road bike bags). I ordered the COTOUXKER Bike Chain Breaker to keep with my fat tire bike, as well as being curious as to how well a sub $7.00 breaker would function. I'm pretty amazed at the quality and features of the COTOUXKER breaker given the price. While it is not a high quality tool, it is quite robust and functions as it should. I like that they provide a secondary push pin stored in the handle, and appreciate the chain hook to assist with installation. The body even features what appears to be an 8mm wrench (haven't tested the actual size yet). The knurled adjustment knob functions smooth enough and the t- handle and base handle are amply sized for comfortable use. All in all, this is a well made tool for an extremely reasonable price. ... show more

  • Works great, no instructions though
This little chain breaker is exactly what I needed to replace my 12-speed Shimano chain on my mountain bike. The description says it can only do up to 10-speed chains, but it handles 12-speed too. It's got some nice features that made it a breeze to use for someone that's used a chain breaker before which is nice because it did not come with any instructions which would help a rookie. I really like the onboard holster for the replacement tip, that's so nice to not have to chase a part around the toolbox. My favorite part however, is how you can see how far you're pushing the pin out so you know when to stop. I've used a lot of breakers before for everything from bikes to heavy equipment chain and they're all guessing games for the most part on how far you need to drive out the pin to be able to separate the links. Construction quality is good and the tool is finished nicely. If it came with instructions, 5 stars, but a great tool no less! ... show more

  • Helpful tool
I won't be able to give a review as informative and helpful as my fellow reviewers since I couldn't come close to detailing the features of this bicycle chain breaker tool. What I can say is it has made removing and replacing the chain on my son's bike so much easier and quicker. As he was growing up, I remember how long he would spend on replacing the chains on his bikes doing it the "old school way". I ordered the chain breaker tool to see if it really would make that process easier and I really mean it when I say it has. Due to an illness my son can't do as much as he once could so if I can find a product that will make something easier for both of us to do, I will tell others about it. For our purpose this tool has really helped, and he said I could give it a thumbs up. ... show more

  • perfect
Great chain tool. Set it up easily for almost any chain. The quality is high and seems very durable. Works on the bike and on my gate motor, just changed the chain with ease. Will be getting a lot of use form this one.

  • A Bargain and It Works Great
I finally got a chance to break a chain with this and it works great. It’s compact and I like how it stores the wire for holding the chain while you push the pin back in. The machining and construction is excellent. I think this will last a long time if you use it properly. It appears that others are selling this exact same chain breaker for more and it gets great reviews no matter who sells it. ... show more

  • very thin, flat, fits well in a backpack
I used this on an older SRAM chain and it worked very well. It has a metal clip built in to hold the chain in place while you are driving the pin. It really helps keep the chain in place. It also has a spare pin in the handle in case you bend or break one. Plus the 6 sided opening build in the handle acts as a wrench for changing the pin. I really like how flat the tool is. It fits in my pack well in case of a trail side chain repair. I usually carry a quick link in case I need to shorten a chain but this lets me work on any link in chain. I have had to deal with bent links and this would have been nice. The threads were smooth and spun nicely. Both the pin handle and the barrel block, for holding the chain in place. For the price it is a very good deal, and easy to use. I will be carrying this with me in the future. ... show more

  • Precise "Enough" Bicycle Chain Breaker, Works Well
There are quite a few "single job" tools out there that aren't actually needed to get the job done. This is not one of them. Trying to break and rejoin a chain link without something like this is next to impossible. I was able to easily break and later rejoin the chain for my motorized scooter while upgrading the chain. The inclusion of the chain tensioner into the tool is a great way to make sure it doesn't get lost. The center pin on this device does have a minuscule bit of wobble while it is being screwed in and out - but as long as you ensure that pin is lined up while aligning it with the chain, it works great. Overall, this is a very handy and well-priced tool. I wish I had purchased it years ago. ... show more
