I purchased the black heavyweight in Queen size. I love down comforters but I’m not a fan of putting them in duvets. I’ve had white down comforters in the past but white is not good when it gets stained and it can yellow overtime. When I saw they make down comforters in other color options, I was excited as I prefer not to have to use a duvet and I want something that isn’t going to yellow over time. This is a true black color. Fabric is 100% cotton which is very important to me as I don’t like the feel of microfiber/polyester. The comforter is not overwhelming soft but it’s not scratchy either. I’d describe it as a slightly softer then percale cotton which to me I like as it feels crisp. I’d assume it will also soften more over time. Nearly all down comforters are going to lose some feathers here and there. I’ve owned multiple down comforters and everyone has lost feathers. It’s normal. So far I haven’t lost anything more then what is to be expected. All down comforters make noise!!! It makes a slight crinkle sound when you move it in certain ways but nothing overwhelming or bothersome. As for the overall feel, this feels like a quality product. Does not feel cheap. It fluffed up just fine. I will say despite it being the heavyweight option it’s not super warm. It’s warm but it’s not “I’m too hot” warm. ... show more

    • heavy, warm (but not too warm) comfort!

first things first: yes, it’s noisy. if you have had a down/feather comforter before, you know this! if you’re jumping to a feather comforter after years of microfiber and polyester filled comforters, then yes, it’s a giant leap in terms of sound. that said- it doesn’t bother me at all. it’s not deafening or anything, more of a gentle crinkle when you reposition it. if that really Really ends up bothering you, know that it’ll soften both with use & in the wash. i haven’t washed mine yet but i did throw it in the dryer with some dryer balls and it came out slightly softer and also, remarkably fluffy. so let’s get on to the fluff of it all. this comforter is mostly feathers, with a bit of down. feathers are heavy and add bulk to the comforter, where down is ultra light and adds fluff. this comforter has been vacuum packed for who-knows-how-long, so of course when you get it and open it, it’s going to be flatter than the devil. to make a down/feather comforter get to that poofy fluffy look that we want so much, there has to be air between those down feathers. so give it time. what i personally did was i whipped it around a bit to reposition the innards, and let it sit for an hour. then, i tossed it in the dryer on NO HEAT with a few of those dryer balls. it came out fluffed beyond belief. ymmv, because i got the heavyweight king (if you’re getting lightweight/all season, the inner fill may not be as lofty as a winter weight one). the color is an off white, not a blinding bright white. i prefer the off white so this was a win for me. my condolences to those who were not as thrilled. it’s breathable enough to not feel like i’m in a sauna, but warm and heavy enough to feel soooo comfortable. i don’t know how it’ll be in the summer, because i live in florida, but for now (it’s quite cold here in florida!) it’s doing great. it’s also very heavy! about ten pounds. it doesn’t have that weighted blanket feel, but it’s able to sorta conform to your body shape if that’s something you want. again, it was something i wanted, so that’s another win for me! all in all, 10/10. i’m using it without a duvet cover because i like to live dangerously, and the night i got it, i slept literally 13 hours. get this one. ... show more

We opted for the heavier set and let me just preface this by saying do not be deceived by the compression packing this comes in! It is really thick! Its so nice and cozy! I highly recommend using this with a duvet cover. For a more cozy look, use a duvet cover sized smaller than the size of your comforter. For reference we got a King size for our Queen bed and duvet cover. With this combo you will always achieve the puffy, cozy look! I only gave it for stars because it is a bit loud because of its shell. I would really give it a 4.5 if I could because its really not that much a of detractor.
