There wasn’t much assembly needed but as most items from China what instructions there were was worthless. I’m not sure about the lamp shade because I don’t think it can be replaced if you wanted or needed to replace it. It was exactly as described. People, read the measurements before you make a purchase. When it reads 20” high that’s a medium to smallish size. Get a tape measure and make sure what you are ordering. The look of the lamp base is good-nice. Functions as described. I like the USB port. The Shade: I struggled to get a cylindrical shade. Maybe another set of hands would help? I did not understand the shade required assembly when purchasing the lamps. Assembly instructions? ZIP - “just do it” is about as much help as you get. . I could understand what needed to happen. But it just was not coming together. I’ll give you kudos for reducing packaging. Lamp shades are fragile and would require a bunch more space in a box containing 2 full lamps. ... show more

I have to decide if I want to keep these or not. The quality of the bases are good. Sturdy and solid but the shades, which you need to form and velcro closed, are not what they appeared. So these lamps are really pretty. The base is but make sure you have some patience with putting the lampshade together because it comes in three pieces and you have to wrap the shade part around these two round things that are supposed to connect to the inside brackets in the shade, took me forever to do both of them, but They’re nice lamps ... show more
