  • simple disposable polystyrene measuring spoons
These are simple disposable polystyrene measuring spoons for volumetric dispensing of powders. Some powders will stick to or penetrate polystyrene, making the spoons single-use in some cases. For my use, these spoons measure anywhere from 75 to 150 mg, depending on the substance. When attempting to dispense a specific powder mass, always weigh the powder the first time to confirm the current volume to mass correlation on a given day with a given product. Volumetric dispensing of powders will never be exact as weighing on a scale but can be helpful when repeating identical measurements with the same substance, same density, on the same day. Also, keep in mind that the mass to volume ratio of anhydrous hygroscopic powders will change with exposure to humidity over time as water is absorbed. Good for causal use. ... show more

  • Impressive little scoops (cleaning tips)
I purchased these when I decided to start taking B3 in powder form and wanted to control the servings. My main concern was how i was going to wash them since they are so light and small that they would fly out of the dishwasher's utensil container. So, here's a tip. I place the scoops in a tulle bag I recycled and place the bag in the utensils container which is located at the bottom part of the dishwasher. I was concerned because the manufacturer's notes indicate that they are only top rack safe. So, as an experiment, I started with just a few scoops in the tulle bag to ensure they don't get damaged/melt etc. I am please to report that the experiment worked. My dishwasher tends to get quite hot, however, the scoops did not melt, distort, in any way and the tulle bag did a wonderful job to keep them together, while allowing them to get thoroughly washed. After cleaning, they go into a ziplock bag for storage otherwise I could see them get lost quickly. Overall, I am pleased with the product and happy that I purchased it. ... show more

  • Does what it's advertise for.
I travel alot and going through metal detectors was a hassle due to my old metal scoops. Now it passes custom with ease. I'm in makeup sales and use these very frequently for customer samples.

  • Better than I anticipated.
These little scoops were exactly what I needed for a couple of different projects. They are great for icing dye that is thick and stains most things. I used one on a deep purple and set it aside until clean up. I had thought of the scoops as disposable, but decided to wash it and see if it would be stained. The dried up dye was easy to clean and the scoop wasn't stained. They are made of plastic but they are very sturdy; also, they can be used with hot liquids without melting easily. ... show more
