They'll never pass for fine china. But after my everyday dishes started cracking after 30 years of use, I tossed them. I've always had Corelle in RV's. They served me well and didn't break in the event one dropped. Corelle doesn't claim they're unbreakable, because they're really a laminate of three sections of glass. But for you and me, they're virtually unbreakable. I didn't want the sets which have coffee cups about the size of a thimble, and saucers I'd never use, and bowls big enough for a side of beans, maybe. So I shopped around, most stores that claim to have Corelle don't or have one red plate in stock. You can order from Corelle and these are $9 each plus shipping, so you can't beat Amazon. Safe for the microwave, dishwasher, and daily use. I noticed lots of complaints from reviewers about quality. I purchased these about a year ago and put them through the normal paces of the sole reason of its purpose... putting food on. After much curiosity of their durability, I finally found out if/can they break and under what circumstances. My child dropped one on the tile floor and it shattered across the kitchen. So needless to say, it doesn't take much to brake. Luckily I have enough for the family still but wish they made them like they used!! ... show more

What’s there not to like about Corelle, especially the square plates with a simple black line design? When I received only one bubble-wrapped plate in a big box instead of the six I had ordered! “Chatted” with Amazon customer service, and was eventually sent a the complete set of six plates in its original packing.
